I've got 67,500mi (and 5.5 years of ownership) on the car and I'm trying to figure out if I should change the fuel filter and pump.

I've noticed a occasional idle drop (down to low 700's) and then a pop back up again. No CELs, car seems fine at speed and mileage is good.

I've cleaned the TP, filter and plugs are new. Any thoughts?

When you say vacuum reading, do you mean compression test?

 

no a vacuum reading--if you dont know about this you need to do some reading--too much for me to explain.

how long has it been since you have done plugs?

and as always..

make sure
plugs tight
wires tight..

it happens. that lower front wire falls off, and what you describe happens..

now if you, have need fuel pump info or tools you have my #!

Bad filter, or even a bad pump wouldn't affect your idle - the effects would be felt as hesitation at max flow/high speed.

 

Change coils , cables and air filter.

 

I have a similiar question regarding what is going on with my car, it loses power going up a decent incline and when your cruisin at 65-70 I can feel under my gas pedal that it loses power. Someone told me it could be my Catalytic Converter but I think it has something to do with fuel ie: filter or pump?? Anyone know what the approx. cost of these (2) repairs would be and what the symptoms are since i don't want to end up fixing both!
Also I have replaced the coils about a yr & a half ago, the plugs about a year ago, air and oil filter approx. 2 months ago

 

Did you find anything out about that problem? I seem to have something similar, if not the same.

 

My car u can drive for bout 10 min then it dies and it takes bout 20 to restart can anyone help

 

Tony Judy, check your post in the new member section. Myself and Cayman replied. You likely have low compression.
