Stuck Intake Valve Problem
I remember reading back during the prototype phase of the RX-8 that numerous testers were having a problem with the high RPM intake valves being stuck closed, causing a drop off of power in the 6k range.
Was this problem corrected in full, or has it been known to manifest itself in production vehicles? (I did a seach and found nothing, so I apoligize if this has already been answered.) -PJ |
If you're talking about the problem described in this article then no, I haven't experienced it or heard about it since the car went on sale in North America.

there were some reports in the UK off power drop offs at around 6k witrh production cars. i have not heard what the resolution was. i have not heard any reports of this in the US

you can actually hear the ports valves being cycled when you turn the car on

I took my car up in rpm slowly but steadily (this in 2nd gear) and you could tell when it hit 6250 RPM...a sudden kick in the pants...and the power ports opened.
