Steering wheel wiring issue

Hi, everybody. I am stupid when it comes to wiring. I can splice a wire, but chasing down trouble is not m strong suit.

I recently had to replace my steering column with the one from my parts car. I appear to have bent the original in a crash. Before I removed that column, I took the airbag igniter out. I don't really feel comfortable having that in there now, with the cage, seat and harness.

Anyway, the horn and all the steering wheel buttons stopped working. This problem persisted through the column swap. It's possible that in all my fiddling I missed a ground. I find it hard to believe disconnecting the igniter disabled the rest of the buttons, but I would appreciate some advice from somebody who knows that wiring well.

Thanks!

I'm no expert, but it sounds like the clock spring

Yeah, this was not a part I was previously aware of. Now that I understand it better, I suspect I broke mine. I was trying to find 'center' for the steering column before I installed it, and I bet I spun the clock spring too far one way or the other.

Ah, well. I'll be trying other steering wheels this weekend, trying to find something that sits closer to me, anyway. That part will then be redundant.

Thanks.
