series 1, do they improve after 05?
 

Alright, I am not as much of a noob as my question suggests. Of course I have read all new member stuff and much much more. I have noticed however that 2004 and 2005 rx8s have the most issues. My question is, are 06-08 better then 04-05? Are they more reliable than them with fewer problems? I know that in 09 they made small but significant changes. To my knowledge no changes were made in series 1, am I correct? Please share your stories and thoughts. I am not afraid of the rx8 and I am fully preparing myself for what I am getting into. Yes any of them can have problems, any car can. Go easy on me, I know more then I appear.

There were some changes after 05.

The 06+ Rx-8s have not as much corrosion problems. There is a modified Oil Filler Part against milky residue in the oil. Different Oil Dipstick.

We have a 04 Rx-8 and a 07 Rx-8 and the 04 has a lot more rust/corrosion. Also the 04 drove longer on bad firmwares which mazda changed a lot in the beginning.

Our 04 Rx-8 made 110000miles with the 1st engine ... the 07 has now 120000miles and is still starting in a sec when warm. The 04 had hot start problems since 90000miles.
