how many miles do you have on your engine? If it's under 100k, you might still be under warranty...

I don't have numbers at the moment. But, it's not cheap. You're pretty much having an engine completely taken apart...
And, stick with the 2mm

edit: give us more details about your car: eg mileage on car/ new engine, mods, etc. 3mm seals are for more aggressively modded engines

I'll give you a heads up: if you're loosing compression because of the apex seals, you'll probably need or want to change the rest of your seals while you have the engine cracked.
It's true that this engine is much simpler to work on. But, finding someone who can properly work on it is a whole other can of worms...
I'd say you're lookin at around $3-4k work.
Research more on this car and see if it's right for you before you go and drop that kind of money on it...

You would have to mill your rotors to accomodate 3mm seals. Not sure why you would seek to do this.

There is no reason to run 3mm seals. They do not seal as well as 2mm and getting someone to properly mill the rotors to accept the larger seals is hard a well as expensive.

So many people think that changing the apex seals is like changing a head gasket, and it is not that easy. It will require a full rebuild and if you do it you need to pay close attention to the seal clearances as this is what makes a motor last.

SpeedSource machined some rotors for me and they were very reasonable with their prices and accurate with their cuts. The concern when cutting the apex grooves in a Renesis is the possibility of perforating the rotor tips when doing so, and that is a matter only determined by the rotors themselves.

He still has a warranty......

80k Some miles, on a 2005. Isn't he still eligible for the extended warranty.

I wondered how long it would take for someone to say this and now how long for him to research this and come back and let us know what he found out. Of course if he is discouraged he might never come back....just saying....if we enjoy the rotary and want to see it go further then it would best if He goes away with a positive warm fuzzy feeling not a FU.

He said the warranty was void because it was a salvage rebuild

He just said rebuild, so i just assumed the engine had been replaced once under warranty once before. And thought maybe he didn't know he could get it replaced as often as need until 100k

Didn't know it was under a salvage title.

Where are you located?
Based on your posts it looks like you're not completely sure about what to do and what to look for in a rebuild. Based on your location you may be able to find a reputable shop to do it for you.
