OKay I read the DIY thread last night ( all 22 pages ) Great info by NYC, however most was talked about the 04-05 models, question is, can I pour the seafoam directly into the hose that splits into both the rotors or do I have to pour it into each rotor individually, also Im either dumb or the ecentric sensor is not there lol, I have pics attached, so if someone can give me a heads up thanks...

Turn your arrow the other direction and you'll find the ESS. Easy to see when you look from under the car.

okay i'll get under the car today... also do you think I can use the vacuum hose, or do each rotor individually

:lol: 22 pages? I think you are making it more difficult than it needs to be. You have to get at the ESS from underneath, I would unbolt it and clean it, mine was filthy.

^ I am lol, I just wanted to make sure I do it properly, the info was more for the 04/05 cause I got the upgraded oil pump.. it never mentioned if I do them individually or I can just use a split ( liek in photo ) to suck it up in one shot.

You might consider removing that hose and getting an oil catch can. There are DIYs for that as well, and you can get a cheap one on ebay. Then cap the nipples and seafoam as you would on an 04-05.
That hose still dumps oil fumes/overflow oil into the intake, just in a different place. Keep the hoses though, you might have to reverse the install for a visual emissions inspection. |
To answer your original question, I don't see why you can't do both at the same time. However, I've always run a clear tube into a cup and used engine vacuum to draw in the Seafoam. I actually use a reservoir from a Mityvac kit, so it can't spill. Then I set it up by the wipers so I can watch the fluid flow. Doing one at a time may ensure that one housing doesn't suck up all the Seafoam for itself. They might be greedy like that.

yeah I know what you mean, but I do not see why that would happen, by looking at it, it looks like theres a perfect y shape so it should go evenly or slightly more to one, but not by much, I think I will try it hooked up to both and have a buddy crank for me, I will tell you guys how it went.. hopefully nothing bad happens lol

I think that's probably fine. The only hard part is explaining the smoke to your neighbors.

lol, I live on a military base, so i'm expecting the military police at my door, ( unless they are pulling people over for doing 5km over the limit )

Okay, I think I found it, :eek: let me know if thats it, and I'm gonna tackle the task this weekend.

that's the one. and you wont have to do any pouring if you get some hose and a t fitting. Just make a piece of hose about 2 feet long, but in the t fitting and then put 14 inch piece on each end.
Plug those two 14 inch pieces into the two intake nipples on the side of the motor and put the other end of your frankenhose into the sea foam. Hold it into the fluid while someone cranks over the engine with their foot all what way on the gas to the floor. Do that till half empty, wait 15 mins, then put the other half of the seafoam in the same way. Wait at least 30 mins and then smoke away. This is how easy e1 has done it on my 06 for the last couple of years at the so cal dyno day. |

that's how eric has done it on mine. my battery is trunk relocated and i have the MS CAI. He just reaches down the front of the engine to unplug the connector, then unplugs the hoses from the motor irons and plugs in his own. I believe he told me once that he doesnt like to use the hose that is there because breaking off the plastic piece the hose plugs into is a PITA to fix.
He also is doing both rotors at once. |

Hi there - I'm just curious as to whether you ended up doing the seafoam treatment. I own an 06 as well and will be decarbing tomorrow night, I was wondering if you were able to do both rotors at the same time using the method you mentioned? Did you run into any issues?
I am thinking of doing it this way also, I already did a "dry run" today to ensure I would be able to unplug everything without issues. Especially the ess, which seems to be a PITA for some - mine came off super easy once I took out the air intake box. My plan is to go and do the deed at the far end of a parking lot (CT) tomorrow night so I don't piss off the neighbours. :D: |
i have a 07, i unpluged the big hose that goes where you fill oil, pinched one side after the "T" that goes to each rotor, cranked with air pump and crank sensor unpluged and let suck half the can in the 1st rotor with the hose that connects where you fill oil, pinched the other side of the "T" and did the same thing, wait 1 hour, do the same thing with 2 stroke oil for about 4 oz per rotor, replug crank sensor and air pump and smoke it

Well I just did the deed... used a full can of seafoam, and added 4-5 oz of pre-mix towards the end (about 45 minutes in).
I started her up: guys weren't kidding when they said it would SMOKE. Holy crap the thing basically kept going and going and blowing smoke for 25 minutes; I started revving up to 6k in cycles after the engine warmed up. I then went for a 15 minute drive, keeping the revs between 4-5.5k. The engine feels smoother when I hit the gas but it still idles rough, which is a bit disappointing I guess as I was really hoping a good decarb would help. So if I understand correctly this can mean one of three things: a) there was so much carbon build-up I might need to decarb again to get it all out (just got the car 3 months ago, previous owner might have never gone above 5k rpm for all I know) b) I have an engine mount issue c) *dread* I have low compression and might need a new engine . Does that sound about right? |

Just bought my rx8 06 i want to seafoam it but couldnt find the nipples ..can u guys put up pics to me were u guys put in the seafoam plzz thankz
