Yes, and I was wondering the same. I have heard lots and lots of good things about it on another forum I frequent. Apparently it dissolves carbon buildup and produces a terrific cloud of white smoke in the process. The only thing I haven't heard is: would it be okay for a rotary engine.

Great stuff. as good as Techron- primarily used as a marine product, i feel it's the best injector cleaner around. My daughters Millenia S had a cylinder one misfire code and i added a can and it was gone,never to return. Good Stuff. I have never used it on my 8.

ya, that's the one, I want to know if it is okie to use it on rotary engine...

It's been used on a rotary by the RX-7 community to try to clean the carbon out of old engines. Some people say it works great, others can't tell the difference. Nobody says "I used Seafoam and my engine blew up!", so I think it is safe. Whether it is effective or not is another question.

Go over to the rx7club.com and do a search on "seafoam" and you'll find 212 threads.

Just use a vac line to suck in a bunch of water instead, it's free and works the same. It's called the "water trick" or "water treatment" on rx7club.com and essentially steam cleans the engine.

I've heard of a lot of people doing the same thing but with seafoam, ie having it be sucked in through a vac line. It'll create an awesome smoke show, car will run rough until its all burned up of course.

As far as putting it into the gas tank I don't think that will do anything. Think about how much gas is in there and how much is in the can of seafoam, really small mixture.

I tried sea foam on my 8 and i loved it...it was an awesome show and i feel personally like the car rides a little smoother...and it should help out with gas millage...ill find out tomorrow...but i would def tell anyone to use it! im please with how it worked so far. and even if you cant feel the difference then atleast you get a cool ass show outta it :lol:

How did you use it? Pour in tank, if so haw many gallons were in the tank. May be you hooked up a vacuum hose and sucked it out of the can. Let us know...

Used it several times. Most recently pulled the upper intake manifold and dumped 2 cans down the ports, then spun the engine by hand in reverse over the course of several days. Next, pulled plugs and watched a nasty black slurry drain out. Spun the rest out with the starter, replaced plugs, oil, and done. Super carbon free! Happy n clean.

VERY TRUE! i use it on my car often.. every other oil change about every 10K miles.

I once used it on my friends mitsubishi eclispe wth 180K miles and he began to burn oil and the smoke fromt he tail pipe never ended... he blames me for blowing his 180K mile eclipses motor

my buddy works at a mazda stealership and he says to put one can of seafoam in your gas tank with at least ten gallons of gas in it.......i did it and i could tell a difference in the gas milleage....he said to do this every oil change.......i havent gotten to my second one yet but im gonna do......he has used in his 94 jeep and has almost 200000 miles on it and still running

I work at jiffy lube. It's sad what some of the workerd will tell people when they have no clue what they are talking about. They probably told him that to try to sell him high mileage or synthetic oil!LOL He should be happy that he got 180k out of his eclipse before it started to burn oil!

I would advise against its use in oil unless you are doing it as a flush wherein you dont drive after adding it, but let it idle before changing oil. It will breakdown oil... also, when you do the intake induction, change the oil afterward as there is some dillution.

I have used the sea foam in my 2004 rx8. I now have 70,000 on my rotary. I have used the sea foam 4 times. 1/2 can each time. i used 1/2 can in a vaccum line and let it smoke for a minute until it burns out. along with the 1/2 can in a vacuum line i also put a whole can in the tank when half full. I can honestly say its the single best thing for cleaning and maintaning a rotary that gets run hard everyday. 70000 and going strong!

I put a full can in a full gas tank with my 8.. i do it once every 5,000 miles. and Yes gas milage is better. and it does make your 8 smoke a little bit for about 500 miles but just a little bit

Def heard it was the best thing for our rotaries

I put it in the vaccum line and i let it sit for an hour i used about half a can. Im changing my plugs and wires next week and im going to put it in the plugs too. Its a pretty cool show to watch...also im adding a half of can to my gas tank. You should try it at night and watch the white smoke come piling out everywhere. :lol2:

I have very little posts here on this forum and the few I've posted I have not had the best results. However I am going to try again to reply to this Seafoam question and in my humble opinion I would say it would be a great benefit to use on our cars.

I have been a huge Chevy fan my entire life (my father owned a dealership) so I literally grew up around cars. I still own my 94 Impala SS (original owner) and have used Seafoam in it every oil change since it was brand new. Currently I'm up to nearly 500,000 miles on the car and yes the engine has never been cracked open.

With the oil our cars burn (I recently bought a 05 RX8 and yes I love it) I would suspect Seafoam would do a very nice job keeping it all cleaned out and running like new. I have not done it to mine yet but you can bet it's going ot happen soon.

One comment I would like to say about Seafoam is that I have PERSONALLY seen it KILL older higher mileage cars that it has never been used on. At this point you may be asking why would it possibly kill an older car (example a eclipse with 180K on the clock). The answer is quite simple. The product does just what it is supposed to do. It cleans out all the carbon and oil deposits (especially from parafin based oils). However what happens is if the car has tons of build up in it Seafoam losens all that gung up and what ends up happening is it gets "stuck" on the oil pump filter screen thus no allowing the oil pump to do it's job. The end result: Total destruction of the engine.

I say, "Use It" 500,000 and still going strong in my Impala can't be just all luck.

so whats the best way to put this stuff in, keep in mind its 20 deg out and i don't really have any tools right now

I would wait untill it warms up and do the nipple method.

I tried doing it by the nipple method at first but the problem i found is that the seafoam i had was a bottle with just a simple whole like a waterbottle has no little spray thing so for me the nipple method was not possible...i took the 3 bolts off the vaccume and dumped it in that way....it was easy to do!!! but as a reminder before putting the bolts back on it wait for it to cool back down because the pipes and such are very hot from warming it up...i was shocked at how simple it was :]

you could have just put a tube on the nipple and into the seafoam and crank it. There is a diy in the diy section. under mazda zoom cleaner I believe.
