Screen inside Air Box has fallen...
I was installing a K&N and noticed that the screen that is on the tube that leads into the airbox, right before you get to the filter had fallen. Does anyone know what to replace it with- where to get it?
:dunno: |
Your title says that a screen has fallen, but your post says a tube has fallen.
Either way, can you post a pic of what you're referring to so we're all on the same page? |
You mean the little ~4" diameter round mesh screen? http://www.racingbeat.com/REVi/REVi.9L.jpg
I dont know where you can get a replacement, but it's there to reduce the turbulence of the airflow through the intake and filter box. There are two of them in a stock system. I've read that running the renesis without one or all of the screens can lead to abnormal idling, among other problems. |
Yes that is it- I will try to figure out how to get another one- if you think of anything let me know!

Dealer would have one.
Are we to assume that when it fell, that it suffered damage and can't go back in? So did it fall inside the airbox? Why don't you just get it back out? Yes, There are usually two screens, and the reality is there are many of us are running with just one(but we have different setups). You might be okay with one..................but don't go down to no screens! |
The way I understand it it, for those with aftermarket intakes that have been designed to use only one screen, its OK. But the reason why there are two screens is explained pretty well here: http://www.racingbeat.com/REVi.htm
Basically, as you can tell from the design of the stock system, air comes in at a sharp angle and thus is very turbulent. The screens help to "straighten" the airflow. |
