S2 fan and shroud into S1
Ok, there should be a thread somewhere that talks about it ? but I can't seem to find it.
as the title saids, S2 Fan and shroud into S1, why? it cools better even without the new mid fan speed(and it's newer), Im doing this to my 8 overseas, it's all strip down already, meaning long block, whole drivetrain, and soon all in car's wiring harness gonna be out, why ? cuz it's a god damn 4AT ... well its cheap, and I found a set of Full car Wiring harness for dirt cheap in Japan. Might as well do a swap. it's still S1 but hey, at least a 6 MT is better than a 4 at ... Since everything is already out (or soon will be all out) , might as well start thinking of modding, right ? I know Radiator is different, I will get that as well. the only issue I can think of right now is the motor plug/connector I know the S2 motors are both the same with a wire hanging out. but on the S1, 1 has a wire and the other motor (#1 I think) connects directly to the motor itself. I don't have any of the above item on my hand (and its quite hard to obtain them overseas), so I just want to get an idea of what I need to do (and the commotions this will bring) before I start ordering parts. Thx guys. |
Well, I guess no one ever tried it ? 98 views 0 reply

Start with the electrical diagrams for each n00b
|
There was an old thread discussing the topic where Ash posted some info. Tried to find it and came up empty. Not sure if it was deleted since I searched many terms & browsed many threads.
|
Same thing, searched for hours and nothing.
Well, i guess there is only 1 way to find out... |
Yes, see post#3
|
the Fan motors on S2 has 4 pins, there is no word on what it exactly does, but on the Fan motor inspection part it saids I have to connect Pin A & C thru positive and B & D to Negative. so I assume pin A/B or D and C/B with relays is what controls the motor to go low/mid/high speed.
I don't have the wiring diagram so that's just my guess. and S1 fan motor on the other hand, have just 2 pins, so really is just on/off so now I'm thinking, if Im using S2 motors, should I just solder the wires A & C together with S1's Fan connector Positive wire then B & D to the negative wire. hmmmmmmmm |
Yes, guessing at electrical connections because you are too lazy to acquire the proper information makes perfect sense ...

lazy? yeah, the information is long gone and no other people have even tried this. |
They don't have internet or search capability where you live?
You of all people, wow ... |

You of all people, wow ... like i said, tried for hours nothing. even ASH said the thread was gone for some reason. |
Normalexception.net - Documents
On my site, all the way at the bottom in the section called "RX8 Wiring Diagrams" there are two files on page 2 called "Cooling Fan System (A)" and "...(B)". I can't view them right now at work, but maybe those will help? |
Ahh, finally cuz I never found the Wiring diagram for S2
now after looking at it , it seems like my original idea was right, on S2 motor I just need to wired both positive and both negative together. hmm time to see if I can find a used one somewhere and try it out myself. |
;).

Ash also has the S2 electrical wiring service manual download link posted in the S2 area
If you were specifically looking for fan wiring only then your search method was too narrow. |
maybe, i dont visit S2 section that much
|
remember all those excuses the next time you bust up on some n00b for not searching

NYC, just save your self the trouble and the this, just cut the stock connectors off and wire them up.
Flex-a-Lite Automotive Dual 12 1/8 inch Lo-Profile S-Blade electric fan with Variable Speed Controller or low profile (what I have). Either one fits just fine, we have 4 locals running these. Personally it was the best cooling mod I have installed. Flex-a-Lite Automotive Dual 12 1/8 inch Lo-Profile S-Blade electric fan with Variable Speed Controller Oh but don't get the one with the VSC, it's not needed. |

the wiring manual for the 09+'s are NEAT. Mazda added some little software widget, and you can actuate all the switches and it animates current flow.
