my rx8 will be sitting in the garage for 6month due to lost of license what tips do u guys recomend , etc do i start it up every day , take it for a drive everyday ?? thanks

chetrickerman 11-04-2007 03:22 AM

if you are gonna drive it everyday, then whats the point of having it sit. jk :)

auzoom 11-04-2007 04:06 AM

You have no license so driving shouldnt be one of your options ;)

Seriously, everyday isnt necessary but I would attempt to take it for a drive once a week.

Cheers

Andrew

I would go to walmart and buy a battery maintainer they are around 25 bucks and it keeps your battery charged and will not over charge it

Charles R. Hill 11-04-2007 08:35 AM

When I ended up in the same situation I just parked the car with the tires off the ground and suspension still compressed, changed the oil and filter, removed the battery and put it on a wooden shelf in my basement. Every month or so I hooked up the battery tender that invasion mentioned for a few hours. When I was ready to drive the car again everthing was fine.

also remember your gas *may* go bad in 6 months time.

Charles R. Hill 11-04-2007 10:40 AM

I topped mine off with Premium and it was fine.

Razz1 11-04-2007 11:20 AM

You can use n addative like Gas stable.

Charles R. Hill 11-04-2007 11:24 AM

That stuff(Sta-Bil) is good for two-stroke engines............wait a minute.........:lol2:

Sorry for being off topic but didn't you recently do a thread on smb exhaust and that you were thinking of getting one? Sorry to hear about license.. I lost mine on my p plates for 9 months, not good.

Mike06 11-06-2007 10:56 AM

just wondering...but what exactly did you do to get your license suspended for 6 months?

Cromax 11-09-2007 07:26 PM

6 months isn't long though. Just keep it in the garage and get someone else to drive it every now and again.

cptpain 11-12-2007 06:36 PM

i dont condone this, but i have had my liscense suspended for one year and i still drove around until it was reinstated. as long as you dont make a mistake in front of a cop or someone who knows you and has a grudge then dont worry about it. drive it, but be careful....

that is if you need a car to get to work... and as the cold weather comes.... everyone will need a car

Digital_Damage 11-12-2007 06:42 PM

sell it you don't deserve it.

architect 11-12-2007 11:16 PM

Disconnect the battery.
Put it on jack stands.
Crack the windows for ventilation.
Put a car cover on it.
I would start it every two months.

Jethro Tull 11-28-2007 11:34 AM

I've read that parking the car on a double-thick layer of carpeting and rolling it a few inches every couple of weeks will prevent the flat spots on tires that long-term parking on concrete can cause. This eliminates the need for jack-stands and is a heckuva lot easier.
Wondering if anybody's tried it?

Mike06 11-29-2007 12:27 AM

You can't be too careful. That's why they're called accidents.:fingersx:

Here's a suggestion...don't drive if you don't have a license!

I just got back from 3 months in Iraq, and I had my wife start it once a week. She never drove it, and it started up just fine and runs great.

I wouldn't think that another 3 months would be much different.

screw that idea, no one can take my car away from me for good!!!

for the most part yes, you can't control what happens in an accident because well its an accident...BUT im saying that you can be on your guard against that all by just assuming that all other drivers around you are complete retards and couldnt make a successfull change into your lane at 15 mph without hitting you

good game :)

[PH47RX] 11-30-2007 06:10 AM

hey ppls so i sholud just start it up every now and then and take it for a drive shold i also take it up to 7500rpm as i herd its good to rev it out every now and then thanks

Mike06 11-30-2007 10:11 AM

no heres what you should do:
1) drive your car wherever you want, whenever you want.
2) be extra careful not to break the law so that you don't get arrested :)
3) go to one of Hannah Harper's signing events or to www.hannahharper.com

Have a good day!
