How are they claiming the intake voided your warranty? What intake is it? You should be fighting this tooth and nail, make them prove the intake caused your problem.

I know a guy that put an ls1 in his FC. Balanced/blueprinted, and really done right. That thing is absolutely SCARY fast. :Eyecrazy: I shamefully have entertained this idea for my 8 in the future.

TeamRX8 06-08-2007 01:59 PM

please search, numerous threads started on this topic, no need for a separate one

search for term= ls1*

guidge 06-08-2007 07:24 PM

they are trying to tell me that sand or dirt or something got sucked through my filter and basicly sand blasted the inside of the motor which i dont believe having ever heard of such bullshit

kersh4w 06-09-2007 11:09 PM

tell them thats their problem for having such a crappy airfilter.

:P

CarAndDriver 06-10-2007 01:04 AM

blah blah blah

savedsol 06-10-2007 07:19 AM

Go here... https://www.rx8club.com/non-rotary-swaps-196/lsx-conversion-details-inside-118544/

if you've got the engine you're half way there. You'll be a hero to many if you help get this thing started.

kersh4w 06-10-2007 09:12 AM

thats ridiculous though, there is no way sand or grit can get through an air filter. if it gets dirty, it just clogs up, and no air at all can get through.

savedsol 06-10-2007 01:48 PM

Depends on the filter. Some aftermarket filters aren't good. There was a good filter comparo that showed how absolutely lousy the HKS and Blitz were. Soooo much garbage got through.

VASasha 06-10-2007 02:31 PM

What kind of an intake system were you using?

BlueRenesis82 06-10-2007 10:54 PM

I swear I saw someone on the site that had a 4.6 ford in their 8. Car was white IIRC

RxCarter 03-11-2011 02:45 AM

Hahaha I figure if these threads are gonna be lying around with no answer then someone should answer lol. So there it is it can be done and also just so you know on hinson supercars website it says they have built one and have been testing it out. Right now they are pricing parts and will be available soon.

Curtis f 03-11-2011 03:14 PM

tell the haters to pound it , that vid was sick (minus the big wing on the back) :ylsuper:

Regarding the OP
  • Last Activity: 07-05-2007 06:21 PM
Digging up irrelevant threads to answer questions for people who are no longer active on the boards only serves to muck up the forums. There are several more recent threads addressing people placing v8s into rx8s if people were looking for info on it.

I know you have stated a desire to "clean up the old posts on the forums" but this certainly doesn't help.

Actually My reason for replying to this one was because when I searched it on google...guess what the link brought me straight to this thread. I also posted that vid on another v8 rx8 thread because heck none of the threads give an answer period.

blah blah blah.

my opinion is, if you want a V8, go buy a car with a V8 in the first place.

as for hinson supercars, people knew that long time ago + there was so legal issues between that company and someone, about some stolen goods a while ago.

Guess you didn't see that part ?

NErx8 03-12-2011 10:29 AM

Could have at least posted this thread. There are other threads with details like this as well. If you want to dig stuff up you could try focusing on current discussions.

Ah.... are you thinking of "Hennessey"? Everybody knows about that massive Viper cluster F that happened a few years back.

Every shop has their fair share of problems. Maybe I haven't heard of the problem with Hinson. What did they do?

Nope i did see that part and the reason of putting a V8 in a miata or rx8 or 240sx is because the cars are light as crap. If you have ever road in a miata with a v8 you would understand.

9krpmrx8 03-12-2011 01:00 PM

Geesh. Seriously? There is an active thread about a V-8 install right now, learn to freaking search and stop posting that lame video.

Interesting... thanks.

I'm reading the thread about it on RX7Club.

A v8 miata is a worse handling miata. Same applies to any rx8.
The most viable alternative is going the FI route, less added weight for the same power outputs. You'd also retain the good powerband that makes both the miata and the rx8 enjoyable when driving.

There's no need to swap a big chunk of metal in to build a fast car.

A 350 or 383 is not a big chunk of metal and thats a lot of power for a light car thats fairly cheap and more reliable as well. A 350 equals almost endless opportunities and a hell of a lot more reliable and cheaper in the long run as well.

SpazLE995 03-12-2011 10:41 PM

Why do an engine swap when you can do a BODY SWAP and loose some weight?

I don't think I want to get into a Miata with a V8 in it, simply because its not even a Miata anymore.

ppl keep saying its "oh more reliable" but seriously I have yet to see anybody can go thru 200K miles after the said conversion. While we already saw quite a few of the people who posted with over 200 K miles on the "oh so unreliable Renesis" (plus the people who never knew this forum?)

where did the "v8 conversion group" go ?

Either :

- its not their DD
- crashed
- car sold and never heard from the owner again
- or simply got numerous issue its just that the person who did it were too pussy to report back (just my guess on this one)

unless you're dealing with a total lemon, if your car(engine?) is not reliable, then you MUST did something wrong.
