Uh, that is basically unreadable.

Could you put that in a spreadsheet or some other chart and post it as an attachment?

Better yet...bottom line up front...what does any of that really 'mean'? :)

SharkDiver 02-25-2005 11:52 AM

It looks like the fuel in the oil has gone down since the first 2 checks.I only have 4K on my 8 and the dip stick has the foam on it of course and smells like gas big time.Im hoping less fuel will be in my oil as I get more miles.

theres a little engine wear (chromium & iron) as expected and redline oil has a crap more anti-wear additives in it then the factory fill (phosphorus & zinc)

Import it into any spreadsheet if you want it easier to read.

I run Canzoomer's stage1/2 and that's when my dilution dropped.

It would be nice to read their comments from your latest report. Cr and Fe jumped on the last sample; did they have anything to say about that?

RX3+5 02-25-2005 03:13 PM

All looks mostly normal. They suggest that my rings may be wearing heavily and that I should decrease the interval between oils changes until it (iron) comes down.

Rings? You mean apex seals?

I keep telling people I don't have any pistons or rings

Interesting.....

Your Fe/Cr does look high for such frequent changes with expensive oil, could it be lots of driving in the high rev range? Did your driving style change at all? Lots of idling?

The silicon is high for that mileage, (should be in the single digits), and if the metal wear isn't from a radical style change, then the bad news is that the sand you are sucking is rapidly grinding away your engine!.....I would definitely be looking for an air leak, loose hose, or inferior aftermarket airfilter.

(Your viscosity readings are more consistent with samples measured at 210*F, not 210*C, possible transcription error?) ;)

The source of the iron and chromium could be the engine still breaking in plus the extended interval. I'll keep a watch on it.
No major changes in my driving.
The silicon is only two PPM above universal averages so it's not a problem.
The other thing that has a great effect on the data is how the sample is taken say at the beginning of the drain or the middle.
Your right it is F not C!
