Thank you so much, Any other position for the jack other than the rear dif? My rx8 is lowered and I don't think it will reach. I heard about using the control arm, but I am not sure where/what that is in the rear.

Don't jack on the rear control arms...they will bend

Whats wrong with the side body seam?

9krpmrx8 05-30-2014 11:51 AM

The body seam is okay, just a bitch with the Mazdaspeed side skirts. And yes, the control arms on the R3 were bent from someone doing that. And the first time I got my car aligned it was on rack and they tried to lift the car that way on the rear control arms, luckily I was watching.

Carbon8 05-30-2014 12:29 PM

I use the body seam on my lift, going under to the subframe rails will cause my aero kit to crack on the lift arm and that no bueno!

Gatorlangman 05-30-2014 12:55 PM

So any other position in that picture then?

9krpmrx8 05-30-2014 12:56 PM

The placements I circled in red are good solid points.

Gatorlangman 05-30-2014 01:25 PM

Yes, but if I cant do the rear dif because my jack wont reach, then what would be another good spot?

9krpmrx8 05-30-2014 01:28 PM

From the factory jack points on the pinch seam. But you must have a high jack because I am low and my jacks fits in the rear without using ramps, etc. In the front I use race ramps o get high enough for my jack to clear.

Like 9K said...use the side seam in front of the rear wheels.....

The diff is difficult to use if your car is lowered because the muffler hangs too low

it must be one hell of a long jack to get to the center of the front subframe

If the jack pad/cup is large enough you can grab the rear subframe where the lower rear camber eccentric is, I use it all the time for the rear pickup

You should just do as the rest of the low car world does and drive onto something to get an extra inch or two before jacking it up. (That's what she said.) I've been using four old brake rotors lately.

TANKERG 05-31-2014 08:08 AM

I bought a 2X6 and cut it in 2' sections and drive onto them so my jack will reach. Cheap and easy fix.

Johnvx1k 05-31-2014 08:35 AM

I drive up onto small blocks on wood then use the OEM scissor jack to get the car up enough until a hydraulic jack can fit underneath. If you have a lopro jack then you might be able to get away with just driving onto blocks of wood.

Not the exact brand I use but these work well enough to get my jack in easily and I am pretty low.
