RX8 Engine Problems
RX8 Engine Problems
Ok, so I've been reading up on some of the problems the RX8 has been known to have. I bought an '04 a year ago with 24k miles on it. I've read that a lot of people have had to get their engines replaced around 30k miles. I was wondering if anyone here has had any problems and had to get their's replaced and if it's common or not. The reason why I've been reading up on it is because last October I had to get a new ignition coil and O2 sensor, and today I found out I need a cat. converter. Thanks.

Keep your oil change receipts and you shouldn't have any problems with getting Mazda to replace it under the 8 yrs/100K mile warranty.
I've had 3 engines replaced in my car. I believe that 2 of the were caused by a bad (clogged) cat. I've had a few of those replaced too.

Oh ok, I wasn't aware of the Mazda warranty. So no matter what kind of warranty I have from the dealer, the Mazda warranty is what's important when it comes to engine replacement?

I have attached a copy of the engine warranty document. If you bought a extended warranty for the car then your double covered. The Mazda warranty doesn't cover a rental car. Your extended warranty may.
