RX8 Coolant Reservoir

I own a 2005 RX and recently facing the problem of having intermittent Coolant Low Level warning. Now it comes permanent. I discovered that the plastic tank lid was broken and that the cap cannot seal the reservoir properly. Do anybody know where to get a spare reservoir in Malaysia ? Appreciate your help.

I am pretty sure they ship worldwide.

Thanks for the info. Will communicate with them.

also be aware that although you should replace the reservoir due to the lid issue... that the lid may have nothing to do with the low coolant level light.

the sensors in the resevoir are notorious for going bad

Mine too! And the dogs don't sell just the sensor.

thats cause "just the sensor" can't be replaced. its an integrated design. thats why we all simply unplug the sensor

Oh sweet! That'll make the light go off? Awesome. Disconnect right at the sensor?

paulmasoner 12-17-2010 02:14 PM

yes and yes. make sure you unplug the one that goes to the coolant sensor, and the light will never come on again. just look at the coolant level whenever you have the hood up. no more worries

This is where you disconnect. Got this pic from a post MazdaManiac made a while back...

So I got a question on the RX8's coolant reservoir / overflow tank and can't find answers so I thought I'd post it here =D

Is the 8's overflow tank supposed to be the replacement / comparison to the RX7's Air Separator Tank ? Meaning it has 3 inlets / outlets wheres the RX7's have 2 inlets / outlets on the overflow tank BUT have an Air Separator Tank, my question is basically: Does the RX8's overflow tank have an integrated Air Separator Tank / Does it work as an AST ? ?

I don't know is my rx-8 engine coolant is an overflow or a reservoir.

I own a 2004 Mazda Rx-8 and I don't know if my engine coolant is an overflow or a reservoir so I don't know if I should fill the tank or not. It's a manual, I don't know if that will make a difference or not.

You fill the coolant thought the expansion tank, yes. The tank is filled to the full mark indicated on the side of the tank. Do not fill it to the top with coolant.
