RX-8 Intake help
Okay so before you say search exhaust and such I HAVE for like the last 5 hours I've been trolling every post lol...
I'd like everyone's opinion as to which intake sounds the meanest/loudest from what I've read the hp gain basically is so little im not even going to include it in this discussion, im asking about sound based on older posts most people said the following were some of the best sounding, please correct me or let me know your opinion! thank you!!! umnitza weapon r secret weapon k&n with mod mazdaspeed cai |
those are all terrible (as in you will LOSE power) with the exception of the mazdaspeed
|
so...mazdaspeed sounds best? or can you recommend another?
|
I've had both the AEM (same design as MazdaSpeed) and Racing Beat, which are the two favorite aftermarket intakes, and I thought the AEM sounded louder.
|
I have personally seen intake temps well over 150 degrees F with the K&N original intake. These readings were recently taken on a warm day in Arizona.
|
the umnitza (simota) intake is the loudest out of them all i dont care wat anyone says.. it rattled my dash at 8000rpm..buutt i have to agree with alz0rz i did lose alot of power and it was very noticeable..im running a aem (same as mazdaspeed) now havent had much time to run it had some problems with it but its decent sounding and gives a few extra hp..

hey man I dont know if this is a little too late but I highly recommend the AEM Cold Air Intake, I have installed it in my Rx-8 and there is a pretty big noticible difference in the noise, you wont hear it when you taking off softly but it will kick in when you really slam, and especially when you go above 4,500 rpm, this is where the HP really kicks in. it get even louder, so AEM is the way to go.

B4 u try to argue with me I had k&n ver 1 & 2 and mazdaspeed so I know there weren't any noise? yes hp? nope |
thanks guys, seems like AEM is the way to go, won't lose any hp and sounds good.
now, for the exhaust, greddy headerback? b&b headerback? racing beat /w cat? opinions?! keep in mind this will be with aem, plan on purchasing both next monday Thanks guys! i've seen plenty of members buy 2-3 exhausts or intakes before they found the one they liked most and im trying to get a overall feel of what everyone has experienced first hand and likes the most. without having to go through 2-3 eh |

Typhoon II
this? http://www.corksport.com/product-32153.html is this the v2 also? -> http://store.knfilters.com/search/pr...d=69-6030-1TFK and is this price average? thanks again |
yep.. that's the noise maker.
You'll see them come up on here for sale from time to time. There was just one yesterday that already sold. Not sure what the avg price is for them. |
if you want noise - just cut open your stock intake box and put a k&n cone filter on there...
lots of noise plus similar results to the k&n series 2. Little to no power gain, turbulent air flow and heat soak all for under $30. |
