RPM warning buzzer

Anyone know if it´s possible to increase the volume on the little buzzer beeping when you hit the 9000 rpm? I would like it to be slightly louder so if anyone knows how to do it, pleae let me know.

(YEAH! I must be the only idiot on earth that wants this mod... :banghead: :wallbash:

Maybe one of the forums "circuit gurus" can take a feed off the little buzzer to a relay, then you could run anything - lights, beeper, siren, whatever.

I tried  but it is powered all the time, and grounded to beep, so I got confused and put the whole thing back together!

is it the same buzzer that chimes when the key is in and the door open? If so, I want to kill that stupid thing soo bad...

Replacing it with an LED is a good idea tho

Door beeper....

If the door beeper bugs you, just disable it - Gomez did the DIY (IIRC) - he's my all time bestest Hero!

This sounds interesting, i'd like a louder 9k beep too. My friends like to hear it.

dillsrotary 03-04-2006 02:19 AM

i want mine to be a human voice gettin louder saying "whhhoooooaaaaaAAAAAAAA!"

TeamRX8 03-04-2006 05:42 AM

maybe you should reprogram it to say "You're out of the powerband numnuts, hurry up and F'ing shift already" :cwm27:

I think they should have the actual red portions of the redline light up when your needle moves in it. That would be pretty cool.

I just bought my 8 and I haven't hit the buzzer yet because I am following proper break in. When do you guys think it's ok to hit 9000.

alcimedes 03-04-2006 11:39 AM

Yeah, if I'm listening to the radio loud there have been occasions I haven't heard the buzzer. Something louder or that lit up would be nice.

avakiannl 03-05-2006 12:24 AM

I can hardly hear mine with the windows down, a bright LED and louder buzzer would be really nice.

TeamRX8 03-05-2006 09:10 AM

maybe if you're revving the engine out you should be paying attention to what you're doing, just an idea ...

Glyphon 03-05-2006 10:11 AM

change your tires. getting something other than the loud as hell stock bridgestones instantly makes the buzzer louder. :D:

A louder buzzer when pushing hard would be easier to recognize allowing more focus on other aspects of driving.

TeamRX8 03-05-2006 03:58 PM

OK, what do I know ...

EyeBall Fixer...(o)(x) 03-10-2006 10:30 PM

I want to install a Red 3mm LED to the buzzer on the back of the Instrument Cluster.
(it'll light up when I reach the beep)
I've done a search and can't find any pix on how to remove it.

Anyone care to help?

There is a description:
1. Remove #3 screws that hold the steering shroud.
2. Remove #2 screws that hold the instrument cluster (I'm not sure where these little buggers are?!?).
3. YANK the crap out of it and it "should" come loose....

I'll post a DIY if I can figure this out.

Petrus 03-10-2006 10:35 PM

Man... getting the instrument cluster out is the easy part.

1. Remove #3 screws that hold the steering shroud. (You see these when lying on you back looking up at the steeringwheel)
2. Remove #2 screws that hold the instrument cluster (You´ll see these as well once you´ve done #1 above)
3. YANK the crap out of it and it "should" come loose.... (YEAH it should. :)
