Road debris got caught under my car
Last night a large brickor piece of concrete something of that nature was in the middleof the road but I didnt realize this until after I had already ran right over it w/my Rx8. I heard a large slam rightafter the brick was underneath mycar and I dragged the thing about 20 feet before pulling over. It was toolate at night for me tocheck it out so I just parked mycar and went to sleep. This afternoon after starting it up the engine sounded different and almost 2 minutes of driving there was something leaking during acceleration. It sounds like that debris must have snapped eitherthe oil pan or an oil line and nowI haveto wait till Monday totake it into service at a dealership. What a fantasticway to end the week. Cant wait to see howmuch that friggin brick is going to cost me

was there a puddle of anything under the car the next day???

it may have severed the oil cooler hose. I know those only leak during acceleration

Check your oil level, dammit, before you drive it anymore! 3. Your car came with 24 hour roadside assistance - USE IT! Why wait? If the car is damaged, get it towed to your Mazda dealer - driving it could very likely do much more damage - which would be YOUR FAULT. Regards, Gordon |
And the "more damage" could be the engine! Inspect closely, call for roadside assistance if unsure! Otherwise you could end up with a $10,000 bill!

Lookslike I dinged the oil pan. A service agenttook my car for a ride w/me and pleaded thatthe car did not sound very different and thatit was performing the same. I cant believehe did notnotice the weird little noisesthat I now notice after hittingthat brick. Of courseI wouldnot admit to him that I hit a concreteblock b/c that wouldnot be covered under warranty. However I tookthe car over to another dealer followingthat visit and I told themwhat happened. They dida visual and saidthe onlynoticeable damage was a ding in the oil pan butno sign of leakage or anything. I guessI must have just been hearing the liquid move around that morning.
Its around $500 to replace andthey both claim my carwill still operate fine despite awkward noises. Lookslike Im going to haveto take it backto the 1st dealership I went to and come up w/some type of clever excuse if I want to get somethingdone about my oil pan using warranty insteadof money. |
Don't even think about it. Bending/twisting the truth is one thing. Flat out lying is something else entirely. You ran over a f'n brick. Any who, doesn't your insurance have road-hazard protection? The couple of times I've had things like this happen, insurance took care of it with no increase in premiums.

People take advantageof their warranty all the time. Pleasedont get on my case here. They bust up parts on their cars bydriving like wild assholes for several months and then take their cars back to the dealerships claiming ignorance and a weekor two later they get their cars back w/brand new parts to beat down again at no expense thanks to warranty. Ive done nothingof that sort.
And hey -- if I want to finda way to save myself over $500 after a pathetic incident like this then thats my prerogative man. I doubtIll succeed but I will surely try my best. |
