?? reset ecu after install intake ??

hi again:
i just got my aem intake yesterday :D: plan to install it today. now when i go though the forum try to find some tips to install the intake, i start seeing ppl talking about reseting the ecu after install the intake and some other stuff, now the aem instroction booklet did not say any thing about that stuff.
so can anyone tell me what is the reason to reset the ecu and how exactly do it? i really confused. thanx in advance^^

yes please...

To let the ECU get used to the new airflow and retune the maps....

To reset the ECU, u turn ur key to on, rapidly pump the brakes ard 20 times... You should see the oil pressure guage sweep across and back.... Turn ur key to off, then start...

Will recommend you to drive your car midly for a short while, as the ECU is learning...

Wow. I did not know this. Should I do it even though I've had the MS on for a while? Or is it too late?

That proceedure is for resetting crank position memory, does not clear ecu. Your car will "adapt" on its own by driving.

The procedure i mentioned resets the NVRAM and KAM (If i am not mistaken).

Else, the proper procedure for totally resetting the ECU is to pull off the negative battery terminal, step on the brake pedal once, and put the terminal back. But i prefer not to do that.

quick question...i reset my ecu every few months. I thought we dont want the car to adapt to the intake, exhaust etc....? should i not be doing that?

after the s flash i know my ltft seems to have settled down..
