Replacing Fuel Pump

I am no super mechanic. But unfortunately I have no money to pay a guy labor fees to do it for me. Its obvious that while changing this, i need to keep a constant ground on my body to avoid sparks, and keep my body free of static. Or is it more simple than I am thinking? The only problem i might face is the SPECIAL KEY thats required. I bought a whole new unit, not just the pump itself, it is mazda oem new, got it off ebay for 190 bucks with a best offer. I know the fuel pump is under the rear drivers side seat under an access panel. I took the passenger back seat off and seen a same exact panel.

My questions

1.Is the passenger side panel just for the right side floater?
2.When I pull the fuel pump out, is it actually submerged in the fuel tank where it will come out dripping with gas? Or is in its own dry compartment with just hoses going into the fuel tank?
3. Is the key required to change out the whole piece or is the key just required to take apart the fuel pump?

Any advice and answers to my questions would be extremely helpful. I just like to know exactly what im getting into before i get into it. Im located in zephyrhills if anyone lives near that could maybe look over my shoulder and give me tips while im replacing it. The pump arrives on tuesday

1. As far as I know all that's under the passenger side is the fuel level float.

2. The pump is submerged in the fuel so it will have some fuel in it that you will have to let drain out. I just lifted it almost all the way out, just a hair above the level of the fuel in the tank till most of the dripping stopped then wrapped it in a towel to remove it.

3. There is a special tool used to remove the large plastic nut that holds the pump in. You can try to remove it with a screwdriver and hammer but you risk breaking some tabs that way. I got a tool like this one from NAPA to remove mine.

Like JD says, the big plastic ring needs a tool similar to that one.

Then the center is the fuel pump holder, holds the pump, the siphon system that pulls fuel from the passenger side and holds 500ml or so of fuel, you pull it straight up, then empty the sump back in the tank - no biggie.

The fuel enters the pump sump thru a one way valve, and the pump sucks from the sump thru a mesh filter sock. This sock is usually quite dirty and clogged, often just cleaning with water/air will fix your delivery rate. The whole assembly just clips together, easy to clean and easy to replace a pump if needed.

Make sure your tank is almost empty..makes it easier.

Static shouldn't be a problem...but I would keep from smoking ;)
