Removing stock air filter box!!!
Ok I have search found nothing :(.
I am trying to install green cotton induction kit For rx8 53 plate. It's a uk right hand drive car 60,000 miles. I noticed When I popped the air filter box up and removed the Pipe behind it. Took the maf off also there is a small tube That goes through a hole in the box which I believe is the Oil pan attached to the bottom of the air filter. I can't get this Wire/tube out without cutting it or the oilpan/air box. I didn't really Want to do that. Anyone Know what am talking about. Apparently this tube is not in 05 Plate rx8 so they must have relocated it. Is there anyway of sorting this out so I can completely remove the Box. Please help thx |
Are you talking about the small metal vacuum tube that's in the air box tray??
If so, that tube is for the VFAD system. Not sure if your car uses that system or not, most people remove the VFAD, it's only purpose is to keep the intake quiet at low rpms. |
wat
pictures would help |
It like a vacuum tube yeah. But also attaches to a small black
Box then goes through back of air box then round to front of car. I was going to cut though the plastic oil catch can at the bottom of The air box to get it out then silicone it back together? Just incase I may Need to resort back to stock air filter. What's your oppinions. And is what you Said exactly what it is and is it important? |
I'll try and get pictures 2moro. Night time now in uk and I have no torch :(

Just disconnect it at the several areas it connects with hoses. There should be some little metal clips that hold the hoses to that box.
To me it sounds like you are describing the VFAD system with the small hollow black "box" thats attached to the intake tube. |
