Rear View mirror with auto dimmer - Not!
I have the GT package with auto dimming rear view mirror. It seems like the auto dimming function needs a torch right next to the mirror for it to sense brightness. Has anyone noticed this? :Eyecrazy:

Do you have tinted rear window? With the tint the mirror dim feature doesn't work very well.....if at alll. But you don't really need it then anyway ;)

Or if you have a spoiler it doesn't work well, if at all. Try covering the sensor on the front with some electrical tape. You can feel it on the driver's side of the mirror. This seems to help some.

My first mirror hardly dimmed at all. Rosenthal replaced it and the new one works better. Still, when a car pulls in behind me, it takes the mirror a moment or two to react, which is irritating. I prefer the regular mirror.
No tint, no spoiler. |

No tint, no spoiler. The mirror definitely has a 1-2 second lag time to dim bright headlights, especially if there hasn't been anything to cause it to dim already. |
Haven't had any problems with mine. It seems to work quickly and if anything I would have said it's oversensitive.

Mine is in the same category. Without a carbon spotlight from behind, it hardly dims at all. I'll see if the dealer can hook me up.
Thanks |
BTW, there is one really cool feature of the garage door opener. It is disabled with no key in the car. Simple, I know, but this way I can leave the car out once in a while without worrying about it. In my other car we try to remember to remove the standard garage remote if the car is outside.
But I do wish I had a plain old night/day lever on it. |
mine works :dunno:
i'm tinted too.. |
hell i am about blind anyway

Mine works really well. Its better or at par with other auto mirrors that I came across in other cars. I Got a 2006 GT

I have a 2004 and mine seems to work fine. I usually turn it off cause it dims somewhat to begin with and I can't see as much.
No tint, stock spoiler. |
Mine has always sucked. Looks almost as bright as the side mirror.

Not much dimming now with no tint. Getting windows done in the morning, will have no dimming after that. I like the mauals too.

I've 20% tint and it works well enough. Then again, its my first ADM. I just don't like how it turns everything green. Why can't it turn blue or just darker? Why GREEN?! Why...why would they do that?! :puke:
