Rear Rotor Replacement (Brake Rotor!)
 

Sorry guys but I searched the whole site. using the search feature and could not find a DIY for brake rotor removal and/or replacement. Is there one? Can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks.

Are you referring to brake rotors or an engine rotor?

I don't think there is a DIY because it's so simple no one bothered? Not bashing you.


You remove the wheel, then the two caliper pins (14mm bolts I think), then the two caliper bracket bolts (also 14mm I think), then the rotor pretty much falls off.

If it doesn't, then it's likely rusted to the wheel hub, and you will need to basically pound it off. Rubber sledgehammer alternating side or against the back of the rotor face (pounding it away from the hub). Other options are to put the wheel back on lightly (nuts holding it against the rotor), and use the wheel's greater distance from the center as a lever with the pounding. I've gotten success out of sitting a few feet out from the wheel and kicking alternately one side than the other with the flat of my shoes.


There is nothing else mechanical holding it on but the wheel with lug nuts, and then the caliper and caliper bracket with pads in it. Only thing left is possible rust.
