I would say, for the average driver, the hotter NGK plugs would be better. It's not like they are eroding their electrodes to death because of the heat range (the electrodes and gaps looked OK on mine @ 30,000 miles), and they should foul less under normal driving.

yep--i run the densos--the 27's and 31"s. I get much better service out of them. I have the msd 8247 Ig coils on the oem dwell ( dont need to change it). The ground straps on the densos are stronger and you can gap them with no worries--still do it gently.
i keep 2 sets--i clean one set via a cheap $30 untrasonic machine and use a toothbrush. Run one set, clean the other---I have been doing this for 2 years now and they still look really good with no measureable wear or increase in resistance. Agree....I find the Denso's with my 'B' OE Ignition Coils appear (butt dyno) to perform better at higher RPM than NGK's, higher I mean around 5500 and up, my Renny II just appears/feels stronger more responsive with the Denso's, but like I said, pottering around at low RPM and short distances the NGK's being hotter are slightly better. Hands down (IMO) for the Denso's at higher Speed, RPM, use. Denny, while I am at it, can you please PM me a link or show which Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine you use, there are SO many cheap ones I would like some advice on those that someone uses and owns, thanks M8, Ash |

The area to "read" are circled. i.e, the middle ceramic insulator and the electrodes. Don't read much into the appearance of the outer metal base. The center insulators look ok given the mileage on the plugs. Lots of ash deposit is natural for a rotary engine. The key is the color of the center insulator. These are normal and don't read overly rich for plugs with over 50,000 miles. You can also check the external ceramic for cracks or "carbon tracks".

ash--i just mine at a store here in the states called "Harbor Freight" It was just a cheap $30 unit. It is big enough to hold 2 plugs at once. You also need to use a toothbrush on them for a little brushing. It takes a little time to clean but thats the nature of an U.S. machine. Any of them will work. You smell like a pickle when its over. The dogs will love you:)
