Premix only, No OMP
With how many issues seem to arise using the OMP with regular engine oil or even with two stroke oil, i think its much simpler to just premix only to ensure that my engine lasts long.
So if the rx8 uses 1 quart per 1000 miles then it would .001 quarts per mile. At an average of 16mpg that .016 quarts per gallon of gas. .016 time 32 is .512 ounces per gallon which is a ratio of 256:1 Is this enough oil to block off the OMP and run on premix only? I don't want any crankcase oil in the combustion chamber and i don't want the OMP to ever fail if i use a SOHN adapter. so this seems like the only logical solution to guarantee that i always have sufficient lubrication. |
Check out what Eric Meyers has said about what happenned to there engines when they didn't run an OMP.........

Thanks, i want to make sure everything stays lubricated correctly so i guess i have to keep the OMP. What are the negative effects of too much oil? as in premix 256:1 and have the OMP with SOHN adapter.

Okay, so since nobody else said it.... The reason Mazda didn't use an apex oil squirter is because of the side exhaust ports. All the heat goes to the side seals. They pretty much used the oil to cool the side seals directly. While using premix to lubricate the seals is effective, they don't cool quite as well as the injectors do.
