POWERLOSS !!.. NEW SITUATION !!.... i need help ...pretty please ?

ok....i was driving home at a constant speed of 130mph just to get home in time so i dont get yelled at ....as i was driving, the engine suddenly lost power ...like, the rpm KEEPS DROPPING !!! i down shift ....it sTILL drops ...and i stepped on the clutch for 1-2 second and re-engage the gear ...the power comes back...but after 10 seconds , it lose its power AGAIN !!! i was like....is the pressure low ? i look at the oil preassure and it was fine....the scenario repeats its self until i reached home and the first thing i did was got on the forum coz i am WORRIED like fuck ~

IS there anyone who experience this or knows what i should do ? should i take it to the dealer and tell them to replace the engine since its still under extended warranty ? what should i do ? :( :( :(

get a compression test.

bse50 09-01-2008 05:32 AM

and drive at a reasonable speed.
Have you got the oil pressure gauge then?

Fuel pump?

StealthTL 09-01-2008 01:30 PM

Sounds like the fuel pump sock is plugging off - easy to fix if you know what to look for.

i have a question, my rx8 was recently dynoed i have an 04 grand touring 6spd, and i got chassis dynoed by a dyna pack protable one, (yes i know they are not that accurate[/I]) but, i lost a significant amount of power. I saw online on my fone at myrotarycar.com stock was running 178.4 hp, and 134.4 torque. My numbers were quite dismal with 148 hp to 128 torque. There is oil in my intake filter, but when i took out my intake filter i was still running consistant numbers. I was told to get a compression check done, but i was told it is probably not the case, i was also told that my CAT's could be bad and are impeding flow into my exhaust so i might need a whole new cat and a catback, but i am still not able to figure out how oil is going into my intake. Can anybody help me out? Tips? Advice? I ran synthetic in my car but i called up a mazda dealership nearby and they said "run regular oil, its a rotary, just run normal 5w-20" and i told them that one of their techs told me that i could run my car on regular but the guy at the dyno said just run premium, and that I'll get better curves and it'll unclog my injectors. Heres the low down on my car.

2004 Mazda RX8 6MT
stock, except for clutchmasters FX100 clutch.
Regular gas, and synthetic (which i plan on changing to regular)

luv4eternity 09-24-2008 10:37 PM

well ..if it runs consistant after u take your intake out , then its most likely your intake air flow ....probably needs a clean up ...

and about the oil in our intake , thats probably blow back from the oil hose connected to the intake ...solution : get Oil Can Catch :D

renesisking 09-25-2008 10:04 AM

i was told my a mazda tech at modern motors in thomaston CT if you know anything about them, that the reason why i would get blow by into my intake is cuz of bad seals in the housing, not the apex seals but the intake seals. Is that true? or is it that i need an oil catch pan like you said? I am getting checked by the dealership friday 26th and i also plan on getting my ecu flashed. what do you think?

I call shenanigan's.

oil in the intake comes from the fact that the oil overflow tube dumps into the intake on the 04 models.

Razz1 09-25-2008 09:30 PM

If you have oil in the intake... clean the MAF.

The reason why your car was dying is the MAZDA police.

Its programed to shut down. ha ha...

I wonder how much you would get yelled at when you called them from the Police station and the car was impounded.

04RX8man 09-28-2008 03:57 PM

I wish I lived somewhere where the speed limit is 130mph becuse it is bad to break the speed limit and I KNOW that you would not b online saying that u were breaking it...so good for u the speed limit is 130!!!! right?????right!!!!!

I'm not your mother. You know right from wrong and I'm not going to scold you.

I have had oil in the intake due to both the cat plugging up and most recently, a side seal on the engine went bad. I had low compression on one of the lobes. That is when I had a lot of oil.
You don't tell the dealer to replace the engine. You tell them about the problem, they hook it up to there diagnostic machine and they determine what is wrong.

i just got a new engine in my car and i got it dynoed again and still got pathetic numbers. It seems to lose some pull after 5grand. I called up KDR performance in Pennsylvania and they said it might be the intake valves that arent opening up fully. I am trying to set up an appointment to take it to them. any ideas if that really is the case??? Its a 3.5hr trip for me so if i could save myself from going there, it would be great. thanks.

alnielsen 02-23-2009 10:28 AM

I would think that the valves in the lower intake would have been checked when the new engine was installed.:dunno:

renesisking 02-26-2009 11:55 AM

one would only hope.
