relax, relax, its ok DOZERs here, first off, your power steering is electric, thus no belts or no fluid...

alright now, right under your airbox and the tray that holds it, are 2 connectors, the bigger one on the right is for your power steering, pull it apart and clean the inside off both sides with keyboard duster (electronic cleaner) and dab a bit of dielectric grease on the 2 prongs, connect, start up and it should be gone....if the problem continues, it could be worse...

I can tell you where to start... the "search" option at the top since this has been covered many times here before.

All you need to know is in this thread:

dozer 08-13-2009 04:41 PM

^thats the second solution...

Jon316G 08-13-2009 04:49 PM

^True... some have been lucky and cleaning the connectors once did the trick.
I wasn't so lucky (as I explained in that thread) and had to clean them at least once a week.
Which is why my wires are now spliced together.

nothing is fixed permanently.. ;)

but it does fix it. i just went through this at 114k miles.. it took no time at all.

do it yourself..

beers

had mine go out yesterday.
I'm leaning towards coolant getting on the connectors since the coolant light came on as I started my car (quickly went off)
30 minutes later...PS is gone.

going to pick up the updated harness and see if that fixes it.

Spinning Sushi 08-15-2009 09:31 AM

Pull out intake, pull out tray, pull apart the connector (It's the big one), clean it, add di-electric grease, reconnect the connector, start the car. If this solved it then proceed to put the tray back in, and put the intake back on. You might get a CEL for having the MAF disconnected after you start the car but that's nothing major for you since you have the Cobb AP to delete codes. :)

mazda needs to put a longer hose on the overflow tank....

Jedi54 08-15-2009 01:47 PM

^^^ YES they do! :cussing:

Spinning Sushi 08-15-2009 01:48 PM

Why not just buy a new longer hose for $2.99 a feet at AutoZone like I did to prevent this from happening? Cheap simple fix.

Jedi54 08-15-2009 01:51 PM

that's already on my list of things to do when I fix the PS.

04RX8man 08-15-2009 10:15 PM

Already done RENESIS...but if MAZDA would fix it from the factory that's 2.99 I don't have to spend...damn that's like 1 beer....

dozer 08-18-2009 03:39 PM

none of those, youre gonna have to completely take out the airbox(intake box) the the tray underneath it to get to the plugs

x MazDA 08-18-2009 03:44 PM

oh ok well thats a starting point then guess i know what i'll be doing later..thnx again i'll probably call for you again...:'(

dozer 08-18-2009 03:46 PM

Nice to see you didn't even read the thread that you were referred to.

x MazDA 08-18-2009 04:33 PM

actually yes i did. im just very new to the car and still was a little lost and dozer was very nice about helping the extra bit. but yes i did read it and thank you for posting it

dozer 08-18-2009 04:37 PM

what i posted was just a quick fix, its worked fine for me, and im hoping it works for mazda, but if it doesnt then the next thing to do is whats in that thread

04RX8man 08-18-2009 04:40 PM

prob wouldn't hurt to clean the MAF either(the one on the left that you circled) but that has NOTHING to do with your P.S......

Jedi54 08-18-2009 04:55 PM

^^^ and by cleaning the MAF sensor he means take it out, spray it with MAF cleaner (gently) and then let it dry.
don't get crazy scrubbing that thing.
