pilot bearing

Hello, have a quick ? I am installing my pilot bearing. I had to cut the old one out with a dremel. I he the mazdatrix installer tool and once I drive it in the needle bearings stop rolling freely. Are the needles suppose to spin freely and can any one tell me how far the pilot bearing should be driven ? My driving tool bottoms out should that be enough?

I ask because I jad it back together and every time I put the trans in first it stalls out. I read and searched on the rx7 and 8 threads that it is something to do with the pilot. The pilot is not damaged but the pilot seal was.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx!

are you asking if the whole pilot bearing should be rolling ? then no.

only the pilot bearing inner roller should be rolling freely

Ok that was what I was pretty much trying to find out. Thanks.

Well, yes, the needles are supposed to be rolling freely on the inside. That's what they are there for.

Other possible problems could be improper installation of the pressure plate, release bearing, slave cylinder, even air in the line..
