out of gas
ok, so i was driving home from a friends house last weekend, and my car started making a weird noise, and popped out of gear, there was major grinding and would not go into gear, i pulled over and called a tow truck.
they finally got there, and said my car was to low in the front to tow, and their flatbed was broke down, so he said that he would bring it to the dealership mon morn, and he did.... .well i went to dealership today and they said the clutch exploded into 10 pieces and they would have a new one in a couple days, they also informed me that the car would not start and that it was completely out of gas..i thought about it for a sec, and remembered i had a half tank of gas when i broke down... .so since when do cars burn gas when they are being towed? any suggestions what i should do? i doubt my dealership would steel my gas, but the tow company i think would... gas is expensive and i had about $15 in my tank! |
NO IDEA... BUT i am interested in seeing how many gallons of gas it will take to fill the tank back up to full from completely bone dry... it will help me gauge how far i can push it!! like kramer!!! lol
|
maybe there's a problem with the tank
i mean maybe its been hit by tow trucker from below and now leaking just a thought |
Man, I'd be a little more concerned about the clutch than the gas......What's goin on there? Do you drag the car a lot, has the clutch had a hard life.....I'm amazed a clutch would let go while you were cruising.
Gomez. |
no i dont drag the car, i drive aggresivly i guess, but not all the time.
its being replaced for free, so im not that worried about it... im sure they would of smelled gas if it was leaking, a half tank is alot to lose.... arent they supposed to be 13 gallon tanks? |

15.9 gallons a tank and yeah the gas isnt that big of a problem. it's not like they drove around in your car didnt they write down the mileage when they started towing it? check it and yeah see if they did drive it around if you thinkt hey did

THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE (IF THATS A WORD) HIS CLUTCH WHEN OUT.....
|
maybe it wasnt out, ive had my car lock me out of all gears. FOr NO REASON. let it set for about 10 minute start it back up and wow it goes in gear. Its possible that it was joy rided. i hate to be ht eone to start the black helicopter theories but you never know. and I really could be far fetched and like the other guiy said check for holes.
|
ok, they didnt drive the car, the clutch was in 10 pieces my dealership said theres no way it could of been driven, and its not the loss of the gas, its that i feel i was cheated by the tow company, plus, im sure they went through and looked at everything in the car also....for all i know i could be missing my rotary accents!!
ill still bring up the missing gas when i talk to them again. |
I hate tow companies. When I had to get my 8 towed I wasnt there to make sure they didnt screw anything up and guess what, they did. I guess they couldnt find anything to hook the tow cable to to pull it onto the truck so they used something on the drivers side front suspension (no suspension damage, it is strong), but the cable dug into my front bumper a bit and scratched the shit outa the paint. I had to get a new front bumper anyway because of why it was getting towed, but it just pissed me off that they had no regard and said well he is already going to need a new front bumper f@@@ it. TOW COMPANIES SUCK AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TOW SPORTS CARS. My rant for the day is over.

The clutch and not being able to use the car are the main issues.
But if you are bothered about the gas I would first call the manager of the tow company. He may not know what his drivers are doing. Give them the chance to make it right. If you get no where you could report them to the better business or other organizations like AAA. Even the local TV channel may want to do some research for a story. |
maybe the dealer cyphened all the gas out.

There's a clip out plastic panel in the grille that you can remove and this reveals a threaded receptacle the eyelet screws into.....see you owners manual, look under emergency towing. Gomez. |
Originally posted by -8- maybe the dealer cyphened all the gas out. oh yea, i got stuck with a greed Chevrolet Aveo :/ i hate the car, they said i wasnt old enough (21) to get a nice car from them... it has Am/fm Radio, manual windows, manual door locks, an auto trans, cloth seats, is very slow, and gets bad gas millage... |
search for previous posts about running out of gas. the tank has about 15 gallons of useable fuel, the last .9 gallon is difficult to get to because of the tank design. I will no longer go more than 20 after the light comes on.
|
If the car was left on the side of the highway, it could have been anyone could who siphoned off the gas. The fuel door doen't open that easily, but I think it could be done without leaving much traces.
I've heard of that happening quite a lot in some places, even when gas was relatively cheaper. Regards, OverLOAD |
