Optima Yellow Top D35?

Anyone here use the Optima Yellow Top D35 in their RX-8? I wanted to get some feedback on how it's going for them and if they needed to do any work to get it to fit? (eg.. extending cables, etc)

My stock batt is dead, I cant drive, and need to get one ASAP. I cant seem to find one in Hawaii. All the dealers say they've never heard of the "D35" in Yellow.. go figure. Looks like I will need to SUPER AIR EXPRESS that puppy so I wanna be sure I get the right one.

forget the 35...get the 34 it is bigger and it fits just fine...all u need is a positive terminal extendor to makeup about 3-4 inches

I've had the yellow 34 since the winter...it is great!

Thanks for the tip.. I was trying to avoid running an extender, but if there are more advantages for the 34 over the 35 I'm open to hear them...

for the small difference in price u get a battery that will last longer...plus if u want to sell it down the line more cars use the 34 anyhow

the new battery in the 05 rx8s are 34s instead of the 35s anyhow

if they sstarted selling the yellow 34R (reverse) that would be the best as it would require no extender but the extender proves to be no problem at all especially when I split the line to make for a 4gauge power line to the trunk

I chose the 35 based on the battery TSB. It stressed that the battery box was designed to keep a certain amount of airflow around the battery to keep it cool. You shouldn't completely fill the box. I think the 34 measurements seemed a little too big, but maybe it does fit. There is a paint mark on the battery box that gives you a guide. The nice thing about the 35 is that it is a direct fit; no extenders needed (though you do need the 'adapter plate' which comes with the battery and fits underneath it to provide the correct height). And, the 35 has adequate capacity, imo. More capacity is better but need to balance with the cooling issue.

Hmm, Truem, how much airflow do you get with the 34? Do you believe it's optimal?

These are the dimensions of the D34 vs the D35.. anyone know the stock battery dimensions?

D34
L- 10"
W- 6 7/8"
H- 7 13/16"

D35
L- 9 5/16"
W- 6 13/16"
H- 7 5/8"

u really don't need to get into the airflow questions etc...

simple

Optimas run cooler anyhow and they are totally sealed batteries unlike the stock batteries

also the stock battery now is a group 34...they do not issue the 35 anymore as it was replaced since the 35 was shit

so yes it fits without modification too...just need the terminal extendor :)
