Operation of Secondary Ports
I've noticed a short little vibration, or metallic rattle coming from the engine bay when I accelerate through the upper rpm ranges lately. It always happens, and consistenly occurs in the same region, somewhere between 6K and 7K rpms - sooner if part throttle, and higher rpm if full throttle. I have come to the conclusion that this related somehow to the operation of the secondary ports. Problem is, I never really was aware of this before, and am worried there may be something amiss.
Has anyone noticed that there is a brief, subtle sound associated with the operation of the secondary ports with the 6MT? |

its normal. don't worry about it. secondaries open earlier- you are hearing what mazda terms "auxiliary" ports and what we call the "tertiary" ports.

Thanks. I figured it was the ports but didn't know they made noise like that. |

Why do you spend your time writing responses like this telling other people what you think they should know. It would have taken less time to just answer the question.
