opening car door

ok when i get out of the car, i open my car and it makes this weird rattle noise. i could shake the door and hear it if i do it on purpose. do you guys get this? is there a way for mazda service people to fix this?

zoomalot 11-22-2004 01:58 PM

I don't get this on my car. Anything rattling in your door storage bin?

DaveRX8 11-22-2004 10:18 PM

yeah my car does this too. I mainly hear it when i hit a bump in the road or when I have the stereo real loud. And when i pull the door towards me and just hold it, the rattle stops. Its really annoying when listening to the stereo.

Rxdriftingaction 11-22-2004 10:50 PM

...hum... whatever.. just pull the car to the service and ask them... or u can e-mail to them and talk about ur situation.. it may get some answer..

I belive that some have found loose styrofoam blocks in the vicinity of the speaker. Dealers have been regluing them.

I have the same problem.... driver door. rattles when radio is on, and most roads will cause this noise.

I have an apt made, the service guy looked at it once.. but needed more time.. took the door apart sprayed lube on the foam peice thinkin that was the case but didnt work.. So next week after thanksgiving. its goin in to be looked at..

Take the Tech for a drive and duplicate the noise..

I have the same problem, drivers side door. Mine does not make noise to the stereo, but everytime I open or close the door, it is very noticable. Even while driving, the road bumps alone make it pretty audible. Sounds to me to be too solid to be styrofoam (just my opinion). Guess I need to make an appointment. Could be another cheaply made peice such as the ac buttons and the sunvisors (which they have on order for me).

Well I only know one reason why it could be making the noise.
There might be dirt in between the hinges...

Just thought you should check it out.

I cant speak for everyone else, but mine is definately not dirt. It is something that has eigther broken, or come loose and is now just knocking around inside the door. No idea what it could be, but once the dealership opens the door up, I guess I'll have my answer. And before anyones asks, I dont slam my doors, I am actually pretty easy on this car.

yea its definitly not dirt, its more like something loose

Door Rattle

Hi for the past two months my drivers side door rattled everytime i drove over rough road and i must say it drove me crazy, so i took my 8 to mazda and on four occasions they couldnt find a rattle they said my seat was creakin and that they had put fibre washers between the bolts which hold the seats down and said see if that fixes the ratlle, well it didnt so this morning i asked the crew at Hodgson Mazda in the north east of england if i could watch them remove the door panel and if i could spot out the rattle to them.
Finally i spoted out to them what was causing my rattle and it was a small metal clip which holds the handle mech together inside the door unit finally Mazda had fixed the loose part by greasing it up and surrounding it with insulation foam.
so if any of you are having the same problem as me that is normally the case with the door as this part can usually come loose with time.
I must say my Mazda garage were outstanding when doing this work and kept me notified exactly what they were doing to rectify my problem.

Hope this helps

Not had it myself, but I remember reading on the UK forum about a door rattle being caused by the conical shaped guide pin thing (it's about 1/2 inch wide by about 1 inch long) along the bottom edge of door working loose. It just screws in so if its that it may just need tightening. This has been reported happening on both the front and rear doors.

Same problem. But mine was more a clicking sound. When door was closed and car hit a bump there was a squeak, rattle, or a high pitched metal on metal sound. Took it in and dealer found an over-tightened hinge. Haven't heard a sound out of the door since. Over-tightened...go figure.
