Oil problem?

I have 04 with about 66000 miles on the car. But i did get a reman engine last summer. So reman dose not have that many miles. I have a catch can for the oil installed. It is hooked up to hose that come out of oil filler. Also I did get an oil change last wed. So maybe they over filled it.

Anyway, on my way home today I was driving hard on the highway. When I got home the oil light came on and there was an odd burn smell. I popped the hood and saw that there was a hole crap load of oil all over the oil can. I have not looked at the can in like a month or two. So maby it was backed up. I do add oil my self when oil is half way on the stick. So I dont now if I keep puting to much in or not. To me it lookes like there was some pressure or oil that went through the tube and the tank couldnt hold it and it leaked out of the can through the filter. Could this cause the oil light to come on for about 30sec.
Also does oil backsplash up through the oil neack that much or not. The oil in the can came out looking like chocolate milk so some of it was old. I just want to know if anyone thinks that I should worry about this.
Thanks.

Pressure can build-up if that filler neck isn't vented (though the intake or catch-can/filter).
I've seen how quickly pressure builds-up when a local guy capped the inlet and ran the car for a few minutes.
When he removed the cap, you could hear air "bleeding out".
That said... first thing I would do is check the lines to the catch-can and see if there is a clog/stoppage preventing it from venting to the atmosphere.
Though after this "blow-out" you described where oil is everywhere... there may not be anything causing this.
Might be best to buy new hoses, clean the catch-can, and monitor the oil level in the can.

Thanks for the help. There is a breather filter on the can. It was fool of oil. I will replace the hoses and see whats. Thanks again.
