oem clutch disc.. all you need for a clutch replacement?
 

there is just the clutch disc for sale, locally. nice price i think, $100. do i need to replace the metal shell when i do a clutch replacement? or is the clutch disc the only wear item?

my clutch is going, so i need to do a clutch job this summer. (including a possible tranny swap :eyetwitch ) and the price is right.

i need a new clutch. is this the only item i "need." can i re-use my current metal housing?

If your doin a clutch you might as well do a flywheel if you have everything apart, why would you need a new tranny?

If nothing horrible has happened to cause damage to the pressure plate, diaphragm spring, or clutch housing, then you should be OK replacing just the clutch plate. I would also replace the throwout bearing while you're in there too though.

Talk to CRH, he might have some advice for you on this subject.

yeah usually when replacing a clutch either flywheel machining or new flywheel is recommended and this is the perfect chance for a lightweight one!

charles, i hope you'll have one of those flywheels ready for me this summer. along with the release bearing.

any word on your lightened pressure plates?

and it would be oem disc with oem pressure plate. im pretty sure they are designed to go together. :eyetwitch

I'd consider the pressure plate to be a wear item. Even if the friction surface looks good, the springs have been subject to a lot of heat and compression cycles.

There is a way to test Pressure plate(Metal plate that u said), Its all said in the service manual, as long as its within spec. u should be fine.

Flywheel could be re-surface but there is a limit, so u better make sure.

Thats probably why I like Flywheel with replaceable fiction plate. I just swap the plate out with a new one and Im good to go.

for me, I would rather just take the hit and replace the Pressure plate together. So I will have one less thing to worry about. (oh yes replace your Throwout bearing with a HD one, and Pilot Bearing IF you have the tool. I can lend u the tool if u need it, deposit required :))

just occured to me:
i think the service manual recommends the clutch being changed at 90k miles?

well im only half there. my PP should still be good. if it isnt, i'll worry about it then.
