Not Starting....

This is the 2nd time my car has flooded within the past 3 months. 2 months of not using it because of the snow.

What causes this? It can't be the Engine cause Mazda says I have a perfect 04 Engine. Although, makes me not believe them anymore cause they probably want me to STFU, and say what they want me to hear....

your battery might be dead.

Just check out other stuff, do you have enough gas? Oil? Check if everything is connected.

Check coils, plugs, etc.

If they are all fine, push start the car with a couple of friends(assuming you have some) :)

If you turn the key and hear a rapid clickclickclickclick sound, then your battery is dead. In which case check your battery and alternator.

If you turn the key and it sounds like your engine wants to turn over but can't, you might need to check your coils and/or plugs.

Sounds like you have a flat battery anyway, especially if you left it connected to the car for two months without starting it. But that may or may not be the real cause.

If you don't have the upgraded starter, this could also cause it to flood.
When you are able to start it, does it take many cranks to finally start?

j0eStER 03-08-2009 12:21 PM

I did think it was the battery, but my radio works. I do believe however my car has been flooded yet again. How do I prevent a flood? And how do I gain an upgraded starter?

Update: I just got back home form work and tryed starting my car...it would loveee to kick over but can't.
All of a sudden all the lights are off the odometer and gauges all move up to 9000rpm and such. If I release the START of the Ignition, the gauges and suchare going wacko...

is this a Battery problem?

Georgia8er 03-08-2009 08:44 PM

It sounds like your battery is dead. Radio working doesn't tell you if it has enough left in it to start the car. The radio could probably play all night on a battery that wouldn't even turn the engine one round.

j0eStER 03-08-2009 08:46 PM

I thought if the Radio dosnt turn on.. the Battery is dead?

alz0rz 03-08-2009 11:22 PM

Your battery is dead. I've had that happen twice and both times my battery was flat.

j0eStER 03-11-2009 02:57 PM

Update: Well, it seems like the Battery was the problem..now my Gauges won't go Wacko.
But now I have another problem...When I ever i try to start my car, it wont.. but when I stop trying to start my car I hear a HUGEEEE humming noise coming from near my Battery...sounds like a huge bee. I also now smell gas, when I try to start it.

jmc23200 03-11-2009 03:16 PM

Well, its probablly flooded now from the previous failed attempts. I would try to see what is making the humming noise. If its the battery, go swap it for a new one. I would first try the deflooding procedure that can be found in your manual and if that doesnt work, the deflooding procedure found in the forum.

Steps 1 and 2 are the Mazda Manual steps and the rest are if 1 and 2 do not work. This procedure WILL get it started if done properly. Try doing step 1 once or twice then go to step 2.
  1. Make sure the key is not in the ignition, depress the accelerator fully (this will tell the computer not to supply as much fuel when starting), and then start the engine either until it has started or until 10-15 seconds has elapsed. If the engine starts, get ready to reduce the throttle as it rises. Repeat twice if unsuccessful
  2. Try starting normally for 5-10 seconds (this step pumps more fuel in, so limit the time if there is no life) If the engine is spluttering, it is not badly flooded, and the following steps may only need to be done once or twice.
If that doesnt work, you will have to perform the complete deflooding procedure.

Hey JMC, you live like 20min. down my house.. I hope one day you'll show me how to deflood it. Since I am really not to great on cars, even though i have read the instructions a few times.
