any shop with an OBD II scanner can tell you what the code is, but some of the 8's codes only show up on scanners made for the 8. So a Mazda dealership or an import garage that specializes in those kinds of cars is a good place to start. Your car could be in limp mode to prevent damage to itself if something went wrong, mine went into limp mode after I left it sitting for 2 months while I was deployed, if thats the case simply restarting the ecu should take it out of limp mode and reset the codes (but you should find out what they are..) What RPM can you get your car up to?

hiya cheers for the reply. i got the codes pulled:-

permanent code- p0410
permanent code p0138
and intermittant code p0410

all condition red if that means anything?
would rev smoothly to 4-5k but drop off if you try to accelerate any further.

i'm in wrangling with the finance company at the moment to get it sorted.

driven a very grin worthy and happy 3k, kept oil topped up etc. got the engine light upon starting the car at work and took straight to the garage for inspection but they seem quite scared of it? warranty companies prefered garage but im trying to get them to take it to a mazda specialist. (the headache of people on the end of a phone!)

How does your cat look? Sounds like if you have a hard time with power above 4,500, and are getting second 02 sensor codes, that you could have a bad cat.

have you tried reseting the ecu yet? those are pretty pesky codes, I get P0410 ALL the time so I just tuned it out with my Cobb AP... not so sure about the high voltage one, but it sounds like your car is in limp mode, not revving above 4-5K? I ran on half an engine for over a YEAR with no cat and could redline it easily... try resetting your ecu and see if they come again, and if it keeps bogging your car down, look into getting it serviced. unhook your battery for like 10 min (*more then enough time*) and plug it back in, when you start up turn your wheel all the way right and all the way left to get rid of the dsc light on dash, it's free, quick, and might work...
