New Updated Starter for $175

Someone on Ebay has 9 Updated Starters for sale for $175 with free shipping. I just ordered one and wanted to pass the word on. Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...item35a7fa71c3

Spartanplaya 03-18-2010 06:58 PM

good spot rice! i just bought mine like five min ago!

rice_c 03-18-2010 08:27 PM

Yeah man, I saw it and couldn't pass it up. I had been looking for a updated version for a while but just couldn't shell out the $360 for it from Mazda. After I saw there were 9 available I thought someone on here would be interested.

elysium19 03-18-2010 08:49 PM

it says "Mazda RX8 Reman Starter"

as far as I know, Mazda does not REmanufacture starters....only other companies to

you should definitely explicitly ask if these are built or brand new.

Silverisk8 03-18-2010 08:54 PM

dam.... remanufactured starters ? wtf !!!

good comment elysium .. don't think mazda will remanufacture a complicated starter such as for the RX8, i know Mazsport sells them for $375 plus shipping , if you go to the dealer it's $1000

Is it the updated version ?

I think it is the updated version... ebay pic and this link from Rosenthal Mazda both show the same part number.

rice_c 03-18-2010 10:16 PM

It has the updated part number, but does say both new and reman in the posting. I sent the seller a message to help clarify whether it is new or reman. I'll post back once I hear a response.

Silverisk8 03-18-2010 10:18 PM

it will be awesome if someone can confirm actually installed if the updated version, who knows I know ebay sells the 6cd changer for out rx8 for $115 shipped i have one installed and hasnt failed yet

Silverisk8 03-18-2010 10:19 PM

wether new or reman , the important detail if it's the updated starter mazda provides

I've got one of those too... 3 years and working well!

Silverisk8 03-19-2010 09:33 AM

anyone installed this ebay starter and confirmed if it's the actual updated version ?

rice_c 03-19-2010 01:04 PM

Alright just got a message back from the seller. It is a new starter, not reman. They are going to fix the posting on ebay. To answer your question yes it is the updated starter, look at the part number on the posting it is the new version.

Sweeney7 03-19-2010 04:30 PM

I say this and bought one right away, the seller emailed me shortly after and said that it is NOT a reman, it is in fact NEW. It was a mistake and the auction should be revised soon.... Let's hope it works!!

rice_c 03-19-2010 04:53 PM

The seller has fixed the posting, and I have put the new link up on the first post. They have however raised the price to $185 with 10 available.

Silverisk8 03-19-2010 07:22 PM

i think it's the same original and not the updated version, he's got 2 diferent part # allthough it is a starter for the RX8, he could of just slapped a label with the updated part #

N3Z1-18-400 = this number belongs to the regular starters installed by Mazda for 2004-08

N3H1-18-400R-0A = this is the updated starter that Mazda now replaces, it was originally installed on the 2009-10 rx8's. And this same starter was approved for all models 2004-10

The only way to find out is testing it !!! Don't mean to put nobody's hope down,

but if I'm wrong ?

Will someone vouch what I wrote is correct ?

i'm pretty sure the Z version is the new one. and you can tell prior to installing because the new one is physically larger. about an inch taller.

so no, will not vouch

Jon316G 03-19-2010 08:27 PM

N3H1 = Original (04' & '05 models)
N3H1 A = Upgraded
N3Z1 = Updated (standard with '06 and newer models)

Spartanplaya 03-20-2010 01:13 AM

well i arelady bought it so i guess im going to be the first one to try it out! ill let you all know!

Razz1 03-20-2010 11:58 AM

Yes, please let us know.

Also, the guy that sells the 6 cd changer has access to factory Mazda CD player.

I have had mine for at least 3 years.

Silverisk8 03-20-2010 12:43 PM

my main concern is that the ebay seller posted 2 diferent part #'s allthough it is a starter for the RX8 , which one is he selling ?

Is he selling the Z version or the H version ?

Correct me if I'm wrong again ?

Thanks for not vouching ninjajim4 lol...

Mr.We$t 03-20-2010 01:22 PM

Are the manual and automatic starters interchanable??

REsuperD 03-20-2010 01:39 PM

from the original tsb (which at the time covered up to '07), it seems to me that N3H1-18-400R-0A was the original updated starer. that part # was then later replaced by N3Z1-18-400, which is also the part # currently on finishline's website. both #s denote the update. correct me if i'm wrong

Nope, 2 different starters.

TeamRX8 03-22-2010 04:04 AM

the 2009+ manual trans starter is N3R3-18-400

the latest revised version for manual trans S1 models is N3H2-18-400R-0B and is remanufactured

looks like N3H1-18-400A is still available and is new ...

Silverisk8 03-22-2010 02:26 PM
