Very easy to avoid.

Never shut the car off cold. At least let the temperature gauge make it to the normal operating poistion before shutting off the car. This means if you move it....let's say to wash it or something, just don't shut it off right away. Let it idle if nothing else until it's warm. Some will tell you that you should rev it to 3000rpm and then shut it down(after warm), but that is not really needed.

By the way, you shouldn't drive it real hard until it's warmed up either. I generally wait until my temp needle is about halfway to normal operating before even moving it and then I don't drive it hard until normal is reached.

Remember this rule even when someone else may be driving your car. If I take mine into a shop for something, I ALWAYS tell the guy right to his face NOT to shut it down cold or it may flood and then he's gonna have to pay the bill to deflood it.

By the way........I've had mine almost three years now and have never flooded it, so don't worry.
Just heed the warning not to shut it off cold.
