I was approaching my clean/recharge interval on my K&N filter, so naturally I pull the airbox. After I get the airbox out i noticed what looked like something pooled in the ribbing of the intake piping near the throttle body. I figured since the shop that had my car overfilled the oil ridiculously, that was what it was. However, when I ran my finger through it, I got what looked like clear grease on my hand...Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Hard to tell exactly because its clear, but on my middle finger you can see the clear coating, then to the right of my fingertip you can see where i intentionally rubbed it together a bit, that should give an idea of its consistency and texture. Any ideas just what that stuff is gathering in my intake piping?

(I'm not trying to sound like a wise ***, I'm actually asking if that's how it looks and why)
The shop I picked it up from did have the oil ridiculously overfilled though until I noticed it and drained it about a few days ago.
Team, you're the first person I've noticed talking about puking oil and compression. It makes sense, but is there a reason you don't think a little in the intake could be from filling the oil?
Unless something happens that vastly changes the oil, I don't think its oil. Again, i'm not 100% sure, but there is zero oil in my air intake box, or on the filter, or in the housing for the maf.
There's just that white grease looking stuff collected in the ribbing on the intake pipe. I swabbed some off with a screwdriver, looks just like grease, feels like it too. I know in the picture the pooling looks like regular motor oil, its not, its that grease looking stuff.
I was unable to intentionally make oil go in the tube while pouring it into the filler spout, the idea was shot down many years ago, plus it won't come back again like when the engine is puking.
Cleaned and put the intake piping back on today, no oil, but here is a closeup of the clear 'grease' that came out of the ribbing on the intake piping.
uggghhh, maybe an assembly lube of some sort. Was that in all the ripples, or just the first one?
Yep. If you look at the photo I took of the inside of the intake accordion pipe you can see it in the center of each 'ripple' I have no idea what it could be.
I think the "Clean it, and check again later..." suggestion is probably your best bet.
yeah, thats what I did. My only guess as to why it would be there is maybe there were tiny holes in the ribbing creating a vacuum leak? I havent noticed anything yet but I'll look more into it.
It does take a second or two to return to idle after free revving. hovers at about 1.1k, then falls, to 1, then to normal. approximately of course.
Sprayed some cleaner on some of the hoses today actually and didn't notice any change in RPM's, maybe im just not looking hard enough.
Established by whom? The OP was not sure what it is, and no one has offered any credible alternatives to oil. I had the exact same thing when my oil was overfilled. Also accompanied by a nice oil stain on the air filter, and oil that had seeped into the air box. This is clean oil, don't expect it to look like the stuff you drain from the oil pan.
