Here is my 'reman', still in the shipping container.

Not sure the wax paper is a good distinction between reman and new manufacture. My engine appears to have all new parts, save for a few very small items, and lacks a normal blue reman tag, but the black container it arrived in did state, 'Mazda Remanufactured Rotary Engine'. I can post more images once home.

Not the same, the Japan masking tape is slightly lighter and almost see through and Japan does not use Plastic Plugs (Red) in any rebuilds/remans as Japan (Mazda) does not do reman anything,..see S1 and S2 all Japan made engines below and all 100% brand new parts inside and out..

Also All S2 Japan made engines come with the new metal EMOP Mounting Bracket on top of engine.
Also note the Larger S2 Oil Pan 'extension' bulge (alloy) which fits under the Exhaust Manifold when manifold is fitted, gives extra engine oil capacity and also aides in faster engine oil warm up when stone cold.
S2s also get a new OCV (Oil Control Valve) (see the silver round 'a size' battery) Solenoid on top of Front Timing Cover which controls Oil Flow to the Two EMOPs' and the 6 Oil Injectors.
.

That is fantastic ASH8! Thank you for posting those. Neat to see some of the details of the S2 engine as well, they certainly seemed to give a solid effort in improving the Renesis -- I really like the new OMP solution on top of the engine and improved oil line routing thanks to the new front cover.

Looks like Japanese gum tape; good stuff! The wax paper they use state-side is a pain, never comes off clean so you have to razor the mating surfaces before installing parts.

Wish there was better understanding of Mazda's marking habits for parts. The S2 appears to have a serial number on the forward rotor housing, next to '13B', though none of my engines have had that. The black ink markings by the spark plugs were on my reman as well, though no idea what they are meant to infer. Same with the various orange, yellow, pink, and blue dots on the hard parts, which appear fairly consistent between my reman and the new engines shown above.

I know mine was reman'd as the tension bolts, pullies, and some water pump nuts were used, the rest looks new. The difference in aluminum color between the front cover and rotor housings confirms it is not age/use but a different alloy.

Are the part numbers for new and/or reman engines available in the U.S. listed somewhere?
S-1s and S-2s?
Are there set prices for them?
Thanks in advance.

I just asked my local dealer yesterday for the price for the engine alone. CAN$3100. Not bad.

The parts guys said the labour may be about 10 hours but he said it could be longer, so that's at least CAN$1300 at their rate.

Add tax and whatnot(may as well replace the clutch and possibly get a lighter flywheel like Mazdaspeed), it's about CAN$6000 all said and done.

Nope.

Just the completely different OMP system will give you a lot of headaches.

Is it more expensive in Australia?

I am not aware of any differences in JDM rebuilds and ones in other regions.

This isn't F&F. No need to overnight parts from Japan.

Living in Japan and.....

Will be inquiring on the price of a new or reman engine here in Sasebo area. Hearing rumors it cost over 700,000 yen but that makes no sense. I checking the website www.nengun.com who will email you a price. From what i am seeing in this thread, engine runs around $2,800.00 which i will pay for sure.
