New code after mid pipe installed. FIX?

This morning I got a CEL P0111 IAT sensor circuit range/performance problem ON 2 CCM ´
(See DTC P0111 )

I had the mazsport mid pipe installed 3 days ago and got the CEL last night. I'm also running the RB exhaust, RB intake with duct. I have removed the VFAD since I installed the duct. Could that be causing the problem with the CEL? Is this a normal code with people running a mid pipe? Whats the fix other than dealing with the CEL light and/or clearing it with a OBDII scanner? the car seems to be running fine all around. It's definitely running rich with mid pipe _which seems normal for mid pipe performance_ Help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Its normal to have a CEL with a midpipe.
Since the rear O2 sensor checks the efficiency of your cat (which is no longer inline), its letting your know there is a problem (obviously).

Only way to mask the CEL is to purchase the Cobb AccessPort and disable the bit for that particular code.
This way, you'll know if another DTC code is generated.

Also, with the AccessPort you can have your car tuned so its not as rich.

BTW... love the avatar (I have a thing for flaming skulls) :)

I do have a cobb Ap still in the box. I was waiting to put this mid pipe on, exhaust , intake , etc. before running the install and sending the info back to Jeff at MM. So basically your saying I don't have a big problem and shouldn't worry about this particular code??? It won't harm anything under the hood?

Nothing to worry about.
Like I mentioned, with the AP it'll only mask certain codes and allow you to see others.
So if you get a CEL AFTER you install the AP, then you have something else wrong (and you can use your AP to read the code).

Thanks Jon! Happy Easter.

The code has nothing to do with your midpipe. IAT is Intake Air Temperature. When you installed your RB intake/duct you either broke the IAT sensor, pulled/cut a wire, or didnt reconnect a sensor. Or, (and least likely) you have a PCM issue.

I understand that. That why I'm confused. I have over 5000 miles on the racing beat intake and duct without any problems. It wasn't until last week when the mid pipe was installed the code issue became a problem.

first pull the maf sensor. and look at it..

that is were the iat sensor is..

check the wiring to it. that is a know problem.

as to the combo.

i ran the revi intake a duct for about 60k miles. with something close to the mazsport midpipe. no cels..

beers

Yea, I was planning on pulling the sensor today to get a better idea of what the problem may be. Making sure everything is in working order and clean.

Problem fixed... MAF was bad. Installed new sensor and now the IAT CEL is gone. Now i just have that dam p0420 CEL that is expected with a mid pipe. Thats an easy problem my Cobb can fix. So, I guess all is well for the time being.

Oh, How many power tran problems could the Masport DR mid pipe cause in the long run? I do know about the Mazda warranty issues that could cause problems and the meaning of "pay to play" . Just wanted to know what type of miles people are putting on their Mid Pipes- With or Without Issues.

Thanks in Advance

The IAT and MAF share the same housing.
Replace one and you placed the other.
MAF may not have been bad, just the IAT.
Don't mean to get technical, just clarifying ;)

Been running a mid-pipe for about 25K miles with no issues.
Not the entire time with a MazSport (had an AP before), most most of it.

Pico 04-19-2009 07:49 PM

yep I knew they are in the same housing, i should have stated that in my previous post- not meaning to cause others not familiar with sensor related problems any confusion.

Pico 04-19-2009 07:56 PM

25,000 that sounds promising. How hard do you run the 8? I'm always red lining at least a 3-5 times a day at WOT. This is the norm for me. really don't hold a high Rpm for a long amount of time (5seconds or so)

Silver_Surfer 04-24-2009 12:05 PM

Wonder why that code apeared? Its not the cat code.

Razz1 04-24-2009 12:47 PM

You have a problem because you are illegal for not running a CAT other than that.......

Pico 04-24-2009 03:30 PM

All is good. No codes since the fix. I know running this setup is illegal and could set a CEL and usually does. Lets see what the future brings. Thanks...
