Needs a good rx8 mechanic in Los Angeles.

Hey guys I got a check engine light on my rx8 and it's out of warranty so that means I am in the cross hairs of the dealiership to rip me off lol. So does anyone know a great mechanic in the Los Angeles area who works on or specializes on rx8's.

Search for the SoCal Lounge.... on the first page of the thread there is Southern California Rotary Shops.

To name a few....

JRX Rotary

Tri-Point Engineering

Mazdatrix

You can also have a friend with a COBB ACCESSPORT to check out the CEL for you. Have you even called the dealer to get a quote on what it costs to read the CEL?

gregger 08-28-2010 10:54 AM

My appointment is in 4 hrs but no idea what it's going to cost me.

Definitely JRX if they aren't booked.

Mazdatrix could help.

If you don't mind travelling...

Rotary Reliability in Santa Ana/Costa Mesa

and

Neptune Speed in Huntington beach.

Or get the code from pepboys for free and fix it yourself.

Jedi54 08-28-2010 11:05 AM

If you don't mind driving to Huntington Beach, I highly recommend NeptuneSpeed.
I've been going there for almost 4 years and I know of several members who drive great distances just to have Yoshiya fix their cars.

+1 krazed... forgot about that :banghead:

Krazed_Rx8 08-28-2010 11:16 AM

^ Yep IMO going to pepboys is the best route, you'll save money

Atilla 08-28-2010 11:31 AM

some pepboy's won't read the code for you any more.

A lot of them down here in OC have stopped according to some policy they passed :jerkit:

Jedi54 08-28-2010 11:32 AM

they are no longer allowed to let the consumer use the code reader since we are "untrained" and too stupid to interrpret the results.

seriously, that's pretty much how they got the law passed. stupid ass C.A.R.B.

Are they going to ban the sale of code readers to the public?

Ken

Jedi54 08-28-2010 01:10 PM

I'm sure they would if they could.

Jedi54 08-28-2010 01:12 PM

Ken: these are the same idiots that recently put forward a proposition to the CA senate to OUTLAW the sale of all Black cars.

reasoning: black cars get hotter while out in the sun so those owners are more inclined to use their A/C more which in turn is more damaging to the environment.
so instead of outlawing the thing causing the damage (A/C), they go after the black cars.

freaking GENIUSES! :banghead:
