I have a CEL p0031 and I've been told I need a new o2 sensor but which one do I get. I've only found 2 types the bosch ($363.95) and Walker($153.30). Why the huge price differance in the 2 their both wide band right?

I just noticed this as well.

Online Mazdaparts has the OEM O2 sensor for in between the two.

A good source for 02 sensors is www.oxygensensors.com they have the Walker for 123 OEM replacement.

The Bosch is needed for some fuel management applications. Not sure if this applies to the 8.

I am going to contact the reps that sell Walker and Denso to see what they say.

I got the denso 4 wire universal off ebay for like $50 for both. The front is a heated sensor. dont ask me what that means, but thats what I found out. My cel is still on, but havent scanned to see what the code is, my gas mileage is back to normal and idle is steady like it should be. Before I changed out the sensors I was gettin terrible mpg's (230 miles a tank, now upto about 300)and idle was not steady. I could feel more power in the lower rpm range after the new sensors. I got the sensors that can be used for the front and rear.

IF YOUR DOING THIS YOURSELF REMEMBER TO ALLOW TO COOL THEN SPRAY WITH PB BLASTER AND LET STAND FOR ABOUT 10 MIN AND THE SENSORS WILL COME OUT VERY EASILY.

--------------

BRAND NEW DENSO OXYGEN SENSOR!

UNIVERSAL 4 WIRE

SENSOR COMES READY TO INSTALL WITH SPLICING TERMINALS (SEE PICTURE). NO NEED TO PURCHASE ANY ADDITIONAL ITEMS. THIS MAKES INSTALLATION VERY QUICK AND EASY.

THIS SENSOR WILL FIT THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES:

YEAR
MAKE
MODEL
ENGINE
# OF WIRES
POSITION

2005
MAZDA
RX-8
R2 1.3L
4
FRONT & REAR

2004
MAZDA
RX-8
R2 1.3L
4
FRONT & REAR

the front one is a wideband and the rear one is not--make sure you get a true wideband sensor for the front.

I just ordered a set of the Denso

813KR$ did you reset the ECU after you installed the sensors?

The picture in the listing looks like the wideband sensor.

If they do not match I will have extra narrow band sensors.

OEM is Denso

Bosch does make a Wideband for the 8 as well.

The reps from www.oxygensensors.com have not responded as of yet.

correct,

and both the sensors you mentioned above are oem, and less money than you were going to spend aftermarket.
