Need help finding Fuel Pump
Hello all,
Long time reader first time poster : ) I have a 2004 RX8, and im attempting to remove the "sock" for the fuel pump since I have been troubleshooting my current power loss. I have the mazda tool that a local dealer actually let me borrow for free. I removed the plastic ring, but i cannot find the actual pump. I feel really pathetic at this point....There is one gas line hose that attaches to the plastic base, which in turn meets the ring. The hose leads into the gas tank but I am unable to reach inside far enough to grab what I think would the pump(at the other end of the gas line) I have the tool for 12 more hours before I must return it to the dealer. IF anyone is out there and can shed some light into my situation it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much |

Not 100% sure on this since I never done it, but I read on here a few times before about it...

There is an identical ring to remove on the other side of the gas tank that you will likely find the fuel pump assembly under ;)

Perhaps you are working on the wrong side of the car.
The fuel pump is located under the rear seat on the drivers side. Under the rear seat on the passenger side is the siphon assembly. |
Ahh yes it all makes sense. In my defense i manage a tire shop and what we label left rear and right rear are opposite what I read on the forum... lol
Thanks again |
