Name for M-Flash in Canada
Mazda Canada and Mazda US are two seperate companies. They use seperate codes and programs for everything. My dealership in Canada has never hears od a a M-Flash. Neither have any other dealerships in Canada. They use different PCM calibration names. Does anyone know what update code I am looking for? The newest update I could find at my dealership was a B31.6

They do not use different PCM calibration codes - but it seems your service writer doesn't know how to find them. If you read the TSBs (as discussed in the numerous threads and as posted on the Rosenthal Mazda web site), they explain exactly how a dealer tells what flash you have. It also explains how the dealer gets the flash - all Mazda dealers are now equipped with Mazda's Worldwide Diagnostic System, called WDS. Periodically, Mazda issues updates to the WDS, like every few weeks. These updates to WDS contain any new PCM updates for the various Mazda vehicles - the last RX-8 PCM update, the M flash, was included in WDS update B30.5 or so. Your dealer has WDS update B31.6, so they are current on the RX-8 flash. It is then a simple matter for them to re-flash your PCM with the latest RX-8 PCM flash contained on their system. The TSBs explain this - make them read it if they don't understand!!!

That's funny, because I got my flash updated in early May, at the Kelowna dealer..... They had no problems getting the M-flash at that time.
Now to wait for the next one..... |
