My gift to the world of RX-8 and rotary/renesis enthusiasts everywhere.

Hi all,

Here is something I have been doing in parrallel with my Pro Tuner development. It has also been spurned along by some of the discussions regarding the pooling of knowledge for rotary tuning now that PCM editing software such as sCANalyser Pro Tuner comes to market.

What I am gifting is two things.
  1. A freeware RX-8 PCM tuneup exploration and discovery tool.
  2. A forum for users of Hymee Enhanced products, including a place to share information gained from item 1.

Freeware PCM software
I have this software well underway, as it is a key component of sCANalyser Pro Tuner. I thought I could spin it off as a seperate application, and share it with the world as freeware. It will allow you to take an existing RX-8 PCM image that you know nothing about, and using my latest technology, discover the "maps" and calibration information hidden inside.

It will allow you to look through the maps, and add "metadata" information to them in a manner that can be shared with others. So if Fred wonders what a particular table is doing, and no one else had published it's purpose, then he can do some experimenting and document his results. The software will allow for his "notes" to be incorporated into the map displays etc, so future use of the editing software will be even easier. The tool will allow the updated metadata information to be saved to disk, so it can be shared freely with others. And the same metadata information will be able to be used in ProTuner so the "discoveries" made are apparent whilst tuning.

I will deliver, with my ProTuner product, metadata information (I call them CalSpec files) for the tables that we have already discovered and tested, so that part is already covered.

But what about all the rest of the "hidden" tables? No problem with this new tool... Everyone can benefit. And if you don't want to share, then that is no problem either. User's choice.

I'll post an annoucement just as soon as I have it ready.

Forum
I just set up a new forum, generally as user support type of place for customers of Hymee Enhanced products, but more specifically as a place to serve as a repository and sharing house for the knowledge and information generated with the PCM discovery tool.

You can find the forum here: http://forum.hymee.com and register for free. I won't tolerate any nonsense etc, but I know my customers are generally above that anyway.

I'll provide the hosting for the forum as another part of the "gift". I can't promise to answer every post individually, but I'm hopeful that "the community" will do a good job of that anyway, afterall that is what a forum is all about.

I hope you all like these ideas. Please let me know your thoughts!

Cheers,
Hymee.

Good call on all the extra futures that are included in your ProTuner product.

I don't mean to insult or offend any competing products out there, but if you are offering this with your product, you have just obsoleted any other similar product where they want to keep maps locked and secret. Map sharing has always been common with aftermarket ecu's. It only makes sense here too. This is how it should be.

This is awesome... knowledge to the masses! Thanks Hymee. We have long needed an RX-8 ECU Maps Infopedia. The rotary shall be unlocked at last.

Now this is something I'd like to participate in.
Hymee, sign me up! :)

Hymee, Just tried to register on your forum site but never got the confirmation email. It's not in my spam folder either...is there a problem with the forum? Thanks.

Thanks. I'll check. Moe had an error when he tried, but I fixed it. Wish me luck. There are a few waiting for confirmation response...

Cheers,
Hymee.

Looks like a problem with my email server. I'm looking at it now.

My problem is understanding the relationship between your freeware PCM software and your ProTuner software.

What is a list of things that are different between the freeware PCM software and the ProTuner software?

Does the freeware PCM software only allow you to add notes (metadata) and view maps, while the ProTuner software allow editing?

A software tool that allows everybody to see the maps and make notes on what sections are doing is a good ideal. If this metadata became a universal format between other upcoming ECU reflasher software would be very interesting. It seems an excellent way to discuss and resolve the mysteries of the RX8 flash and maps.

hymee.com mail server is down, so I swapped to pda.com.au and all working again as far as email notifications go.

Sorry for the unplanned semi-outage :banghead: :banghead:

Cheers,
Hymee.

That is what I was trying to say. It is adding more than just notes, but I think I'd rather wait till release and you can see what I mean then.

It won't allow flash editing. It won't allow reading an image from a PCM (it won't even need hardware). It won't allow a file to be written to the PCM.

It will allow saving of the "knowledge" file, and then that can be used in Pro Tuner. In that way, the extra knowledge added can be utilised.

I hope that helps explain it a little better.

All of the software architecture is in place, the design is complete, and a good portion of the implementation is done. Need to spend some more time on it, but ProTuner has top priority at the moment.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee, this is probably the best news I have heard in a long time. Can't wait to hit the data, this is truly supporting the RX-8.

GREAT WORK!!!!!!

Im sorry if I missed it in another thread, I did search.

What will be the price on the pro tuner software ?

tajabaho1 03-11-2008 09:50 AM

That will be disclosed at the public release / launch of the software. Lets just say it will be priced appropriately given it's functionality, and comparable to other tuning solutions in the market place for other vehicles.

Cheers,
Hymee.
