My compression test results
just had a compression test done. here are the numbers they gave me.
4.9, 5.3, 5.2 and 5.0, 5.1, 5.3.......dang it! that sucks!! |
That's worse than mine, but I was also all under 6.0. Where you having warm start issues?
Where did you get it done and how much did it cost you?
compression
Not real warm here yet. Cold starts were starting to suck though. Just wanted to flood.
Theres a guy who used to work for Mazda here( hes a Miata genius) he did the test for me for $50. He said he could put me a new motor in too. He would be just a bit cheaper than going to the stealership. |
Well, a new motor it is.....
I had 0.0 for all three on rotor 2! ;P Just got my new motor and tranny under warranty though, mazda was good about it
That sucks! I'm glad my engine is still strong. Kept doing the preventive maintenance on my car and not "racing" the engine like you stole it or abusing it. That's my way to avoid maintenance costs and hassle.
mine is out of warranty. 130,000 on original motor. Mazda quoted me $4200 parts and labor.
O_O balls! I was at 111000 Km when my kicked the can, course I ran on half an engine for a year without realizing it... :S and I also crashed it at about the same time the engine kicked it so I think thats what caused it, user error :P Good luck and I hope you can manage, wouldn't want to see someone give up on a good car like this... It kinda needs to be driven hard in moderation though, it's part of the preventative maintenance really, prevent carbon buildup and whatnot..

seafoamed twice.. once about 2 months after the crash and it helps a little, and once about a month ago when i realized the car was pretty much done... mind you the engine was already messed at that point, but it made notable improvements both times on a rough running engine... I say it's a good idea, but only if you drive your car like a granny, and only if you know your seeing drops in performance, it's more of a check then anything, if it helps then sweet, but it's a band-aid for more serious problems if your trying to fix your performance issues with it. Take the more expensive route if you know something is wrong, because those issues your trying to fix will only get worse without real maintenance. Coming from someone who tries to operate on budget this should mean something, it can burn away the oil in your engine and be bad for it if you do it repeatedly, aka cause more problems then its solving
EDIT: I know you weren't talking to me but I felt like personal experience should be mentioned |
yup.ive done mine 2 times now.
