My car idle problem
 

hey guys, i was wondering why sometimes my car is in the trafic and the car shakes for few seconds, and the rpm needle is moving up and down without me press on the gas pedal, sometimes the battery light comes up. Anyone know why? (this all happens when the car is sitting in the trafic).

I have a similar problem when the car is cold and I am looking for a solution. I haven't heard of the battery/charging system light coming on though. ...But the battery and alternator ARE on my suspect list. Is your 8 an automatic or 6 speed? If it's a 6-speed, try putting the clutch in (next time the idle fluctuates) and see if the idle stops hunting up and down. Do you have any mods - like underdrive pulleys? ...Have you done any work on the car yourself, interior wiring/electronics etc???

i got the latest flash. my car is 6 speed manuel. i do have kn intake, sr power pulley, and sun hyper ground wire and ignation.

Ditch the K&N they're worth a penny.

That's it! the K&N is droping your idle so low that the under drive pullies that are sending less amps to the battery is sending a signal to the ECU to turn on the Battery light.

Buy the new RB intake.

i'll get the greedy turbo instead :)

My car has had the same problem - Mazda Corporate talked to the local techs and they think it is a engine problem. Somethng about the presure in the engine. My problem is about every 10th time I would stop, the car would shudder and die. With the A/C on - every other time. Took it to the dealer - told them to have a tech take it home. He came back the next day and said the car has some serious problems. Car at the dealer - unable to drive for the last 7 days. I may get a new engine out of it.

slow idle -stall & slow response to accelerator
 

I have 2004 auto with 26000 miles. Intermitent problem with slow idle and slow
response to gas pedal. I thought it was bad gas (water) during the past winter.
Every two or three weeks I have the same condition.
Cold engine seams to run fine. City driving and idle at stop lights seams to bring
on the condition. I am thinking fuel delivery (fuel filter or fuel pump)
RPM is below normal when this happens. Had the car stall and hard to restart (like
not getting fuel) It usually starts after 10 to 15 seconds.
Wondering if anyone with an automatic has had this experience?
Going to the dealer tomorrow (will the memory show the dealer anything?)

I have the same problem. My car is still at the dealer - Mazda Corporate overnighted a special test kit and they want the dealer to try it before they will give me a new engine. Talk your dealer - have them take the car for a few days to drive and then they will experience the problem - thats what I had to do since the computer did not register any problems.

i'd first start off with the obvious. whatever you did with the ignition, make sure that ground is grounded well, and just for kicks...check your belts/pulleys. i seriously doubt the intake would cause your battery light to come on. the idle, on the other hand, could be affected by the sudden loss of electrical power (no enough for the coils, etc.) OR the intake could have affected the IAC.

they won't even touch the car since he's already tampered with the car's electrical system and ignition system. the rough idling will only be linked to the intake. good luck having the dealership help you out.
