my car doesnt burn oil at all!!

is that normal.?
4367 miles sinse last oil change, getting it ready for a newone this friday. But sinse i bought it i have had not added any oil.
at the beginning i used to check every 2 weeks (no change)
now i check may be once a month or sometimes twice but "the oil is always in the same spot in oil stick"
is there something wrong with my car?
I drive it hard most of the time...

ps: its a 2004 model with 34000miles

used?

my oil consumption slowed greatly after the recall flash also. Nothing to be worried about.

My 05 went through a quart every 1500miles.

My 04 so far has been much less thirsty. Went 1000 miles in it so far and the level still shows full.

Weird, but you would have thrown a CEL if the MOP was faulty.

thats weird since i thought that flash included MORE oil in the system

Mine used to not burn that much if any between changes. But in the last 6 months or so I've had to top it up regularly.

sorry in advance for my dumb question

I'm a newbie to the whole rotary engine concept (and pretty new to this forum). "It burns oil" is the first thing you hear people say when you tell them you're considering buying a rotary.

I figured there must be some info on this in the FAQ area, but I couldn't find it. I'm sure there must be some sort of info on this. Could someone post up a link to it... or maybe just give me a quick "rotary 101" on it.

Is the engine designed to burn oil... or is more of a shortfall of the design?

That is the word on the street.

I tend to check my oil often anyway, and after my first 3/4 of a tank, there was a visible indication of usage on the dipstick. Given that by all accounts the thing is supposed to consume oil, I would be concerned were mine not.

i've never had to fill up my 04. Between changes it stays fine... go figure.

It is not a shortfall of the design, but a necessary design decision. In order to keep a proper seal between the rotating combustion chambers (the apex seals) some oil is injected into the combustion chambers. So, yes it burns oil... but not in a bad way like when a piston engine starts burning oil. Read some of the posts on oil choice for more info.

I've had my used '05 for about 1200 miles now (26k total), and it didn't appear to use any at first...I just now can barely see a drop in oil level, not even enough to worry about adding any yet.
