MPG went up.

Well my job contains a lot of driving. First few months Iv been filling up when the light comes on, in which is always 13.0-13.56 gallons. I have been getting 270-290miles on that. Which brakes down to 20-22MPG, that’s still pretty good. I’m happy with the numbers and the car.. The car has over 9,000 miles on it. After that mile marker I noticed a big jump in MPG. The last take I filled up at 13.457gallons and drove an unheard of number of 335miles till the light came on. Filled up 13.464 and then driving home, I hit 330miles till the light came on. It blew me away to see 25MPG.

Driving at a rate of 68-75mph.

I hate to read when some guys are not even seeing anything close to this.

Has anyone else seen a increase of mpg over time like I have?? :)

good to hear, I'm averaging about 15-16 with 80% city driving and about 3200 mi on my car. I haven't really it out on a good road trip yet to see what kinda hwy mileage I might get. I'm running synthetic oil/trany/diff fluids, you outta try that as well, it could help even more. How is your city mileage? did you see it also increase over time?

i just had a sudden jump in mileage, from 16mpg city, 18 mixed to 18 town, 20 mixed. 11K miles and swithed to 89 octane. also pumped up my tires. i had gotten 22 on the freeway a year ago.

I have been getting about 280 - 300 miles out of a tank of gas and I do a mix of highway and city driving. The thing that is wierd is that at about a half a tank I show my mileage as 180 - 190, then the mpg goes into crapper and all I get out of the last half is about 100 miles. Anyone else exprience this?

bryrx804 09-24-2004 01:40 PM

city driving I lose about 5mpg.. right around 20-22.. Still pretty good.

Well Id not recommend you drive on 89.. Might cause problems. Having low oct # when they recommend 91+. I ran 89 and had engine squeak. Went to the dealer and there is a bulletin for it, calling for use of higher oct. To many impurities and deposits will be left inside.

I only get 240ish miles in full tank...dang.

bryrx804, whats your build date?

shelleys_man_06 09-24-2004 09:32 PM

Hmm. I drive down to the a little below the half mark on the gas gauge, and I normally have about 180-200 miles on the trip meter. I estimated about 19-20 miles per gallon, based on my printout on the receipt. Sometimes it feels as if my mileage decreased, but either way, I'm stuck paying for fuel. :(

rudy8 09-24-2004 10:03 PM

i almost always get 15.6 mpg. m flash/
except if my wife drives the car and then it goes up alot.
hmmmmm...
it has gone up with m flash from about 13.5 or so. i have 11k on the car.
also have sr flywheel and canzoomer stage 1.1/
i love this car though and as long as i can afford the gas, it is about worth the mileage per fun per mile factor.

I get 18 MPG consistantly in light city driving. The one highway trip I've taken I got about 22 MPG.

You can't rely on the gauge to accurately tell you when you are at half tank. These gauges are rarely linear. Since everyone's definition of a "tank" is different (because everyone decides to fill up at a different level), the only way to truly gauge what your mileage is, is to calculate it: miles driven since last fillup, divided by the number of gallons to fill.

Jeffjett 09-25-2004 09:55 AM

I get exactly the same mileage as Omi - 18 and 22. Can't be unhappy with that.

I'm running on 87 octane... no problems whatsoever. Engine "squeak"?
What is that?

To many impurities and deposits will be left inside.
This doesn't make any sense, sorry... deposits? Impurities? From running lower octane? Hm...

RotorGeek 09-25-2004 07:44 PM

I run 89 and it run good. I avg, 16mpg mixed. The best tank was 254 miles. I only have 2600 miles on it. I hope it gets better.

bryrx804 09-26-2004 10:30 PM

guys... you need to understand how just a tad more throttle waste so much gas.. ppl when getting low MPG.. I bet try and drive eazy.. I mean eazy.. one full tank.. I know its going be VERY VERY hard.. but nothing over 4k.. I bet you will see 19-23

bryrx804 09-26-2004 10:36 PM
